So for this book, what I got the most from it was found in the Preface and the Conclusion, which focused on how the Soviet Intelligence agencies shaped the thinking of the operatives who went on to become the power in the newly independent Russia. I think those bits are incredibly important and prescient reading as this book was published in 2015. Within the book I found that it covered a lot of stuff that I already knew from other sources, but if you want to read just one book to learn about how we got here, this one is only about 250 pages and might be the one for you.
