The Courtyard announces an open call for installation artists who works with light to develop and create a site-specific installation. This opportunity is open to emerging and established artists from India or abroad.
We have many spaces within the venue to put up interactive/experiential light-based installations. Our last installation ‘Wish Upon a Star’ by Safeera Gaffar received accolades in plenty, became an enticing photo opportunity for our visitors, and was covered extensively by local media.
What we offer:
The installation will be showcased for a period of two months, during which we will provide a temporary space, publicity and PR, and create a social media campaign for your work to reach our growing community.
To apply, please send in a short proposal containing:
-A statement describing the concept
-An estimate of the timeframe to complete the work
-A selection of your previous work
Useful extras that you can provide:
-A description of the materials you plan to use
-An initial sketch or design
For more than two years Anne Frank and her family lived in the annex of the building at Prinsengracht 263 where Anne’s father, Otto Frank, also had his business. The Van Pels family and Fritz Pfeffer were there with them.
The doorway to the annex was concealed behind a moveable bookcase constructed especially for this purpose. Two of Otto's business partners and two family friends knew of the hiding place and helped the eight people by supplying them with food and news of the outside world. Anne also recorded listening to the BBC a lot in her diary.
Russia has captivated the minds of travellers for decades, no small thanks to the mystery of the land behind the old iron-curtain. The largest country in the world has only really opened up to travellers from the western world in the last few decades, and now many adventurous tourists are discovering the wonders of Russia. Most travellers focus their attention on the western end of the country, where cosmopolitan cities like Moscow and St Petersburg offer world-class symphonies and ballets, and famous tourist attractions like the Kremlin, St Basil’s Cathedral, and the Winter Palace.

It's nice when interests intersect... My dad has been asking me to translate, transliterate and beautify this collection of traditional #syrian#jewish#arabic phrases, or "mattalat", to use as teaching aides in his classroom. My upcoming immersive #painting needs them, too, so today I finished 5 of 50 of them. Incremental, but progress nonetheless... #jimena#heritage#cukture#history#calligraphy#art
