if we want people to see us in our complexity, we must be willing to see them in theirs. relationships cannot thrive if there’s no space for messiness.

Al-Anon taught me the difference between walls and boundaries.
Walls are solid and rigid. They keep others out and they keep me trapped inside.
Boundaries are flexible, changeable, removable, so it’s up to me how open or closed I’ll be at any given time. They let me decide what behavior is acceptable not only from others but from myself.
Today I can say no with love instead of hostility so it doesn’t put an end to my relationships.
As I decide what is and what isn’t acceptable for me I learn to live protected without walls.
Do my defenses keep me safe or do they isolate me?
Today I can love myself enough to look for healthier ways to protect myself. Ways that don’t close everyone out.
People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges. -Courage to Change
Al-Anon for families, friends, and citizens in a world dominated by Alcoholic thinking ie. Grandiosity.
Decide to be your best and don’t loose sight of your dreams! You only get one chance at life! Get out there and try new things, see new places, and meet new people. Do the things you have always wanted to do. It is never too late! Your actions define who you are. So start moving! Find ways to be more productive. Achieving your goals takes effort and determination. If you want to find a new job, or buy a new home, or get in shape, these things don’t just fall in your lap. You have to work at them. When was the last time you had a significant breakthrough?⠀
We learn that failure is the end of us. That it’s something to be feared.⠀
Instead, when we feel broken, right there amidst the pain, we have the opportunity to grow, learn and get past the challenges that are presented to us.⠀
By not attaching our identity to the breakdown, relaxing our body and mind, suddenly we are able to see through the pain.⠀
You are powerful, my friend.⠀
Every breakdown is your opportunity to breakthrough.⠀

👊🏻 Day 2 of 8-week Summer Bootcamp!
If you’re following my journey, that literally just started, you’ll notice that Day 2 didn’t come on Tuesday.
Best part bout this bootcamp, the flexibility!!! My students had a performance last night, so because this workout is ONLY 4 days a week, I could make Tuesday my rest day and move weds rest day to be my Day 2! BOOM 👊🏻 I need flexibility in my schedule. AND, because it’s Back/Biceps today, I could add my 3 mile trail run 🏃🏼♀️ Maybe you’re like I was, never able to commit to a program, overwhelmed, too “busy,” always excited to start, but depressed when I “couldn’t keep up,” or “do it perfectly.” 🤦🏼♀️ THIS is the PROGRAM for you!!! Just do what I did, make a decision to START!!! And be ok with not doing it “perfectly.” And seriously do it with me!!! It’s proven that those who workout with a friend 👭are 3x more likely to stick with it!!! 👊🏻 I am proof that works. Even as a professional dancer/athlete, I couldn’t stick to ANYTHING!!! I joined a fit community and I’ve stuck with it for 4yrs. 🙌🏻 Join me!! pm me let’s chat, there’s so many options to start, you’ll start where you’re at, and around your busy lifestyle, and based on the goals you want to achieve. • • • #Onedayatatime#sobrietyrocks#soberissexy#soberlife#sobergirl#progressnotperfection#soberlifestyle#recoveryjourney#recoverytime#recoveryforlife#recoveryisworthit#changeishard#askforhelp#takeaction#gratitude365#couragetochange
Loving my rest day. I was finally able to get in a 30 min Cardio session today on my Eliptical. In my last program I was working out 6 days a week, so I haven’t had the time for extra activities like running because I needed to give my body time to recover that one day a week. I’m always sure to give myself one dedicated day off a week where I don’t do any exercise. It’s so important to let your body rest and recover from all of the stresses you put it under throughout the week 💪🏻. Some activities that I like to do on this day are stretching, foam rolling, and yoga to help loosen everything back out. And boy did I do some stretching today! My arms are really sore from day 2 of my lifting program. That’s why it’s soooo important to practice self care! :
Sometimes I think to myself how my life might be different if I didn't have the courage to change my life.
Yes life is so much easier going to work, coming home and watching tv, and looking forward to bedtime.
But don't we all want more than that? To have a life full of energy so we don't just come home and plop on the couch due to exhaustion.
To have a body that we feel confident in. A body that when we walk by a mirror we look at ourselves with LOVE in our eyes. 😍
A life where we go to work and then actually have the energy do things with our kids.
Just one decision to change can cause a life to completely change for the better...but sadly until YOU decide to have the courage to change, you will just remain the same.
It can look like an intimidating door to walk through in calling to make your first counseling appointment. And YET it is the driving force behind SO many of our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
✨Think about what you could accomplish if you put your fear aside.✨
Because I’m willing to bet that if you regularly feed into fearful thinking, it is holding you back.

Happy 😊. It’s something you decide you want to be. If you want to be miserable in life you can do that easily, but finding happiness takes effort and gratitude. Im grateful for all of the wonderful friends and family that are in my life and that I have everything I need...a roof over my head, food and water, clothes on my back, and so many more things I don’t exactly need. When you’re really throwing down with life, and it feels like you just can’t catch a break, please remember all of the things you are grateful for. This always helps me gain some perspective on the situation. Our attitudes and how we react and deal with life determines our path to happiness. So many people judge their happiness on life events, but we have no control over this. The only thing you have control over is yourself, so make the decision to react to life in a way you might not be used to and find a little bit of happiness each day😊.

I didn’t know what was missing in my life before.
A sense of self-worth.
A vision for my life.
So much of what I thought and how I felt was tied up in other people, and what THEY thought and felt.
Because of that, I lost myself for a while.
And I almost stayed there, overly focused on others and not at all on myself.
I didn’t know it at the time, but codependency had it’s grip on me.
But honestly, it never felt quite right. I knew something was off. And I sought help.
With the help of Al anon and a therapist, I learned about what it meant to be codependent. Slowly, I learned about what I could and couldn’t control in my life. I became aware that I needed to put the focus on me and take care of myself. And eventually, I became ready to do something about my physical health. And that “something” came in the form of a home workout program that had the potential to teach me a whole new set of habits.
Which it did.
It also came with a business opportunity, to share what I had found with the people around me.
Which I did.
And today, almost 4 years later, those two choices- the choice to change my habits AND my choice to become a coach- have given me my life back in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
SO MANY of the ways my life has transformed I owe to those two decisions.
They allowed me to take the tools I learned in Al anon and in therapy and put them into practice.
Being a coach has given me a platform from which to share my experience with others.
And I am forever grateful.
And it’s why I am forever committed to sharing about this experience with the world.
Because we never know who could need this in their lives.🙌🏼❤️🙏🏼 #transformationtuesday#codependentnomore
