Salads may be one of the first diet meals you may think of. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “I just had a salad!” from people who are trying to tidy up their diets and eat better. Unfortunately, not all salads are created equal!
Yes, you can absolutely eat a salad that’s very low calorie. But beware of the big salads with lots of delicious, crunchy, deep-fried toppings… the calorie content may shock you! It’s not uncommon for restaurant salads in particular to contain over 1,000 Calories when you factor in the dressing, croutons, avocado/guacamole, etc. which is oftentimes more than a burger.
You’re better off creating your own salad and being mindful of what goes into it. Or if you’re eating out, don’t be afraid to kindly ask for substitutions - grilled protein instead of deep-fried, no croutons, dressing on the side, and so on - to keep the calories more reasonable.
And of course, on the flip side, if you’re trying to gain weight or you have a lot of wiggle room as far as your calories go, definitely have at it with the calorie-laden salads!

🌱Yaklaşık yarım kilo ev yapımı mis gibi lor hazır
🌱İsterseniz süzgeç üzerine bir tülbent yerleştirip kesilen sütü üzerine dökebilirsiniz
🌱Tülbenti kapatırken üzerine bir ağırlık koyduğunuzda daha sert bir peynir elde etmiş olursunuz.
🌱Yarım saat ağırlıkla birlikte beklettiğinizde dimlimleyebileceğiniz sertlikte oluyor.

STRESS BUSTING SWEET POTATO TOAST AND FETA⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 medium potato Sweet potato⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2 1/2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 cup Baby spinach⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/3 cup, crumbled Feta cheese (sheep milk)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4 medium egg Egg⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 pinch Salt and pepper⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 tbsp Basil, fresh (or any herb you prefer; or sprouts)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 avocado(s) Avocado (for Avocado mash)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1/2 whole lemon(s) Lemon juice (for Avocado mash)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil (for Avocado mash)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 pinch Salt and pepper (for Avocado mash)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 tbsp Water (as needed, for Avocado mash)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Preheat the oven to 400F°.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wash the sweet potato thoroughly and cut it into about one-inch slices lengthwise. Cover a baking tray with parchment paper and place the sweet potatoes on the baking tray. Sprinkle with olive oil. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, until the sweet potatoes are soft. Prepare the avocado pea mash and the eggs in the meantime.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Add all the avocado mash ingredients to a blender and pulse until relatively smooth with some bits left. Add a bit of water, if needed. You can also mash the ingredients with a hand mixer. Add salt and black pepper to taste.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Boil the eggs for about 4 to 5 minutes, so that the yolk remains runny. If you like, you can also do poached eggs or just fry the eggs in a pan.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When the sweet potatoes are ready, remove them from the oven. Place the slices on plates and top with spinach, avocado mash, crumbled feta cheese and the eggs. Sprinkle some fresh herbs on top too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Serve straight away and enjoy!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hubby grilled dinner to end the weekend. Hating that tomorrow is Monday, after a three day weekend. However, it was well spent visiting a long time friend; we pumpkin-patched, hiked, colored, drank wine, and binge-watched my 600lb life. Came home with time to grocery shop and meal prep breakfast for the week. Shopping my freezer for lunches, as I'm on plastic container recovery mode! Dinner plans for next week!
Meal planning has been one of the best things I've picked up from this community. I love the fact that I don't have to stress about what to make each night or make multiple trips to the grocery store throughout the week.
Personally, breakfasts and lunches don't stress me out too much, I like having a little more freedom to make whatever I feel like. Mostly it's eating the leftovers or having some sort of sandwich. For dinners though, I just have less time in the evenings since most nights I'm not home until around 8. Gotta love when you find something that just makes life easier! ❤️
Today makes my one month-aversary of this account and the end of my first diet bet. I was able to win the round and have dropped 7 lbs 😱💪🏻🙌🏻 if you had asked me 6 months ago if I would be excited about this I would have said no but I’ve done a lot of learning this year about how it’s not the big steps that get you where you want to go but the consistent steps no matter how small. Bringing that old children’s fable of the tortoise and the hare to mind, it doesn’t matter how fast you go the key is be consistent. #consistencymatters#tortoiseandthehare#dietbet
