This photo on Pexels.com by @photography_by_swapnil really struck a chord with me and I used it to design my first sample book cover. While researching the location of the image I uncovered “Missing”, a powerful art project in India that is raising awareness about the millions of girls who are lost to sex trafficking and go missing in the dark world of prostitution. (@missingirls) The stoic girl in this mural, nicknamed Pari, is holding a pair of scissors after chopping her hair in an attempt to look like a boy and less vulnerable to ogling men. I felt a kinship with Pari, feeling similar frustration with a society that failed to protect me as a teenager. I realised though that the issue of child trafficking is separate to that of mental illness and chose a different image for my cover - one that more aptly represents me and my struggle. The @missingirls project is an interesting initiative and definitely worth a follow. #apartlove#aparthate#carolineangus#poetry#depression#afsp#chokethedemand#connaughtplace#missingirls#leenakejriwal#pexels
