A few fragments of ideas came together on this one in an unplanned way. When i’m not sure where i’m going, i just sit and draw. Often the initial drawings end up in the bin (!), but if i keep going it always amazes me how things pop into my head almost unconsciously. As the Picasso quote goes:
Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working." Because i need to plan a few layers ahead when i’m painting, i can’t always run with the ideas as they pop up. This is why these ‘postcard’ drawings have become so important for me - they give me the freedom to record thoughts as they occur, without judgement or censorship from my inner critic (who, as we all know, is a jerk)!
All the drawings will be shown as part of a solo presentation, ‘Precarious Structures’ with @arushagallery@drawartfairlondon to be held @saatchi_gallery London 15th -19th May (open to the public from 18th)
