Walking at night by the Faro de la Marina is something really surprising. You won’t get lost while walking there, as you’ll find the path fully illuminated and you’ll see how the night is complemented by the light of the lighthouse 😍 Who do you plan to walk with here?” #LimaWalkingTour#lima

Ok, so my Instagram break was a little longer than expected. And it was so good! I really didn’t know, how much I was using instagram every day. My Apple-Screentime says it was more than an hour, which is a lot, I think.
Last week I deleted Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest (guilty pleasure and a biiiig time waster for me) and Youtube (even bigger time waster) off my phone and set an Internet-time of 30 minutes on my Laptop. I read two books (which I haven’t in a while, to be honest), did lots of cool things and was overall a little more relaxed and motivated than usual, I would say. Yes, I was bored sometimes but then I started a big knitting project (my first sweater!) and it was great. I actually wanted to do the experiment until wednesday and have already re-downloaded the app a few days ago but really didn’t feel the urge or interest to post or consume anything.
What I am learning from this: Instagram IS a really big time waster for me and it doesn’t inspire me in any way as much as boredom or just plain creative work do. I always thought, Instagram was a big inspiration for my creative work and photography but to be honest: I was way more creative without it. I will definitely cut down my instagram use very very much. I will try not to scroll the feed first thing in the morning and I will try not to watch every single fu*** boring instagram story that pops up. What I did miss is sharing my pictures, though. Taking pictures just for myself just isn’t the same and instagram really motivates me to keep going, to improve and to bring my camera everywhere, which brings a lot of joy into my life.
So of course I’m not gone, but please don’t be mad if I only seldomly watch your stories from now on and don’t like every picture you post :) After this „experience“ I really do recommend trying to be a week off social media to everyone. Sometimes you just don’t know how „addicted“ you are.
I would love to hear what you think about this topic. Do you think, you are using instagram too much and could use some more insta-free time? Tell me in the comments :)
