One of the most uplifting (yet tear jerking) videos we’ve seen in a long time! ( 👈🏽 Swipe left for both parts and to see the end which is so cute!) 🎶 Marissa composed the most beautiful, heartfelt lyrics for her little brother Andrew. Her dad Ross shares:
“This video means so much to me and I want the world to know how Andrew and other special needs children make an impact in other people’s lives.” ❤️🙌🏽🤙🏽 #manamele#manamaoli#chickenskin#aloha
I promise there’s a story behind this and not just me trying to show my arm 🤗. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I have something called KP (aka PK aka Chicken skin) the full name is Keratosis Pilaris. Which means my skin is red & has tiny bumps on them. I’ve had it since I born. My oldest cousin has had it since she was born as well. With KP there is a chance that it can go away once you hit 30 or slowly fade away. Lucky for me it has been fading away slowly but surely the older I get. But that wasn’t always the case. All throughout growing up up until about 8th grade I was always self conscious about my arms and I would get teased about them. Kids would come up to me and laugh and point “why are your arms red 😂” well clearly at like 10 I would get upset, cry and get even more self conscious about them. Up until this day it’s very rare if you see me with just a tank top or short sleeve shirts or dresses. I always feel the need to have to cover my arms, my upper arms at least due to them always making me self conscious and feel like everyone will notice them. I’m 21 now and still may have a life time with them, may not who knows. I try little by little to show them more bc 1 it’s TX and this heat ain’t no joke and 2 why should I hide my insecurities as if that little boy or girl from elementary or middle school will come and make fun of them anymore. Kids are cruel yes but as an adult I’ve learned I have to face my fears and over come them. To those who don’t have KP it may not be a huge deal to you but to those who do and do have or have had insecurities dealing with it, regardless if it’s your arms, legs, face, anywhere, I understand and you’re not alone. Some things we can’t change or get rid of no matter how badly we would love to. It’s time to face your fears & try new things. Love your body. #bodyconfidence#selfconfident#loveyourbody#kp#pk#chickenskin#skin#t1d#type1diabetic#t1dlookslikeme#keratosispilaris#college#adult#dallas

Another Communal dining place (not related to that at Joo Chiat) where we found some pretty yummy bites.
From their #burpplebeyond Menu, we were recommended this Pulled-pork brioche burger which was packed with flavours and juicy good. Beautifully balanced with pickled cabbage and complemented with hand-cut chips.
We also picked their Crackling chicken skins which was just spectacular. Razor thin and utterly crispy, it was the real deal with these big pieces of skin that seemed oven-baked rather than the usual deep fry. Cauliflower tempura was also a favourite which was juicy and tasty.
A pretty relaxing corner to drink and dine, except for some occasional inconsiderate passerby who might stop and contribute some second-hand puffs.
