There is no lie larger than “never” and “forever” said in a confident manner.
Being a 100% dog person, I never thought of having a cat one day. I never thought of getting along with one, let alone love it.
And here I am now... Having a wonderful, caring and intelligent bengal girl, loving her with all my heart.
Don’t get me started on all those “forever” phrases I both told and heard. None of them ended up being really “forever”, becoming a pumpkin out of dashing chariot in a matter of minutes or days.
All those “never” and “forever” aren’t words for us to tell. They aren’t the things which we could possibly know. Leaving the lips, they instantly become a lie, on which we try to build something steady.
BTW I think though that it’s alright to say “I hope that I’ll never/forever”. There is no confidence or promise in it as it’s a mere expression of current idea or feeling.
