After 3,5 month of forced stop (hiking with crutched is not so easy ..) i am back for new adventure ! What's best than castle point and a beautiful winter day to remenber that New zealand is a wonderful contry ? Moral is back ... and leg is on her way to !
And my first attempt at an Astro shot that I haven’t just instantly deleted off my laptop. It isn’t perfect. I couldn’t get a foreground as it was directly overhead. Yes I could have hung out longer but as a lone woman standing out on a beach on my own at close to midnight I successfully managed to freak myself out and convince myself I could hear someone whistling. It was probably nothing but as I had a torch I couldn’t see beyond my circle of light and was very aware that if there was someone they could see me. I lasted about an hour or so and then gapped it. I smiled a lot when I uncovered this image. Can’t wait for my next darkness outing. #legenderriere#justhaveago#justtry#firstattempt#astronovice#imhappy#milkyway#amateur#photographynovice#castlepoint#newzealand#newmoon#canon80d#sigmaart
I'm booking a holiday home in Castlepoint for the 15th and 16th June for an east coast photography extravaganza! It's a good chance to hang out with a bunch of like-minded people, shoot the seascape, lighthouse, boats, fish, milky way, forest, people, long exposures, short exposures, double exposures, full exposures, sand, seals, surfing, clouds and the breeze.
Come for the entire weekend, one night, one day, some of the day, just the sunrise, just the sunset or fantastic company.
If you've ever thought about jumping ship from DSLR to mirrorless (or just curious) or you're already a Fujifilm user then this is a great chance to have a play with some Fujifilm cameras and lenses and learn a bit more about it from a Fujifilm employee..me 😉
Anybody is welcome to come along, it's really about the photography and the people, playing with some cool gear is just a bonus. If you're just starting out with photography there will be no better place to learn.
Express your interest below..tag people who may be interested and if there's enough people I'll start organising it. If you plan on staying overnight, accommodation is limited so first in first served. If you're just keen for a day trip then breeze in at your leisure.
Castlepoint Photography Extravaganza - This weekend!
The accommodation we booked for Friday and Saturday nights is full!
Thanks for the great response everyone. I'm really looking forward to meeting those I haven't before and catching up with old friends again for a weekend of photographic awesomeness.
@fujifilmnz has come to the party and has sent down some cool stuff for us to play with, including the new X-H1 mirrorless camera. If you’d like to try some of the cameras just bring your own SD card.
The plan is pretty simple. Friday night – astro. Saturday – sunrise, sunset, astro. Sunday – sunrise then go home.
If you’re thinking of coming over for the day on Saturday we should be pretty easy to find, Castlepoint isn’t a big place 😃 I’ll keep you updated in my stories.
Bring your laptop along if you want to do some photo-editing. Everyone has their own style, we can probably learn a lot from each other.
