To many times I see people go on these crazy supplement regimens are buy into a fancy meal replacement plan thinking it’s gonna get them all the results they have been hoping for.
Well in here to tell you that all of these meal replacement plans are all scams and they all work on one simple rule... ❗️CALORIC RESTRICTION❗️ All the results you gain are simply because the shakes you added are substantially lower in calories than the meals you were eating prior.
If the meals your were eating are averaging 400-500 calories and you replace 2 of them with a 150 calories shake, that’s easily a 500 calorie deficit for the day. Done consistently that could result in a 1-2 pound weight loss a week.
Overtime you can see how this could result in progress.
But what if we were able to just manage our macros and calories? Would you be able to see the same results? OF CORSE!!! The problem lies when you decide to not drink the shakes anymore.
Because we have no understanding of macros or caloric intake you simply go back to eating the same size meals you where before you started this regimen.
But now this time because your metabolism has adapted to the lower caloric intake when you go back to eating normal meals that is a “surplus” for your body.
Resulting in added weight gain and ultimately landing you back where you started or worse gaining more weight then when you started.
The take home msg here... ☝🏼Develop a good understanding of how much macros/calories you are consuming and need to remove to lose weight. ✌🏼Meal replacement shakes do nothing for you except put you in a caloric deficit. 🖖🏼Cycle in and out of a deficit to hopefully avoid metabolic adaptation and plateaus.
Do meal replacements have there place? Sure, when your in a pitch and need something easy and convenient definitely and they in.
BUT, they should not be the end all be all to any nutrition/diet program.
