Standing eye to eye with a black bear was something I was hoping for the whole trip, but I knew my chances would be slim. So when my bear-radar detected some abnormality I felt like my odds were turning. It was pure adrenaline facing a wild bear only 10 meters from your feet, watching directly in your lens. That meant it was time for me to go, but it made a big part of my trip to experience a moment like that.
Getting your kayak from the car to the water can be difficult...but not with glassfrog's keel wheel (patent pending). Just lift the bow and roll it. Besides that, they're clear and virtually indestructible. #kayaking#canoeing#camping#glassbottomboat

Conquering my fears. Some of you know I was almost eaten by an alligator when I was growing up in Georiga. A very large alligator tried to flip my canoe, slapping its tail and rubbing it's back over and over underneath us, rocking us back and forth into the pitch black swamp water. My mom and I managed to paddle away, but it remains to be one of the scariest days of my life. Whenever I have a bad day, a nightmare usually follows that night where I am swimming with alligators. Strangely I find myself more fascinated and drawn to alligators and crocodiles since this happened to me. I have been trying to embrace them as a theme in my life, maybe a spirit animal of sorts. There was something oddly symbolic descending into that crocodile pit yesterday, and once again walking away unscathed. 🐊
