Thanks to the Opposition Conservative & NDP MPs, the House of Commons' Citizenship & Immigration Committee has agreed to hold 2 meetings over the course of Parliament's 5 week recess (really it's more than 5 weeks because MPs don't sit again until September). The purpose of the meetings is to discuss the illegal asylum seeker issue that's plaguing the country, as well as trying to solve the problem reasonably.
This comes after a report done last week showed that a majority of Canadians poled (57-8%) believe that Trudeau is the cause of the problem & hasn't done enough to quash the influx of illegal border hoppers. 70% of Canadians poled don't believe the federal government has a plan of action at all. So maybe these meetings will cause those people to change their minds, but with this government in power it'll probably make the problem worse & more expensive.
Expected to be in attendance during their hard-earned summer vacation are Ahmed Hussen, Jean-Yves Duclos, & Ralph Goodale. Hussen is the Minister for Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship, Goodale is the Minister of Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness, & Duclos is the Minister for Families, Children & Social Development.
