Here’s to a great Wednesday y’all! ...and a reminder that “ children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.” - James A. Baldwin
DAY 244: so much excitement. Which was quite a surprise from this straydog. These dogs who live and die on the streets are so impressively calm. The way they walk, a certain determination. How they move, like a lion approaching a lioness. These guys don't mind Tobi's fear fed temperament. They'll stay put near the van if they wish so. With one of them around, Tobi seems like a spoiled little city boy. Clearly still a pup, and probably dead already if he wasn't rescued from that garbage container. Cees, this stray, happily slept outside at night, barking any stranger away so that Tobi could sleep peacefully inside. Hell, these dogs don't even like Tobi's food. To domesticated maybe. Well only until Tobi got a little too cocky at Cees. As a wolf ready to kill, assertively and calm, he growled at Tobi, demanding his foodplate. The way he showed his teeth even made Anniek and me shiver. The three of instantly ready to give him what he wanted. The best part. There is no hard feelings for these guys. Dogs don't worry about a confrontation. They just accept. This is how it is in the NOW. And so, Cees stayed with us for a while there. Showed us around his territory, uniquely excited as if he was proudly showing us the beauty of his hometown. Inspirational creatures these ones.
Thinking about routes for the rest of the year right now. @slowlaneadventures proposed a trip through the brazilian pantanal which sounds pretty interesting. Anyone already been there? What would you do? What did you do?
Life is better when you’re out in the middle of nature with some of your best pals. 🌲🌄Breathing in that fresh air, a camp fire roaring, and the beauty of the earth around us are the moments we want more of. Patiently waiting for our next adventure with Carol. - K&J ✌🏼🚌
After a great three weeks exploring, we did a full reorganizing of everything in the van. Mitch's only way to organize is to take everything out and start again. Luckily we had his parents driveway to fill with all our stuff. How it's is that we still have way too many things after downsizing to life in a van? We threw away a few things and decided to keep several items at Mitch's parents while we travel. Hopefully our new setup will suit us better for our next journey. 🚐
