Well, hey! My sweet Bub didn’t feel the need to be #playpolice. She usually tries to interrupt when two other dogs are playing, but she just tended to her bone (even w my cute little bootie bouncing all around) and was able to let me and Marls be silly for a little bit. (There’s a lot going on in this video. A low-to-medium value bone, depending on the context (and some other bones out of frame), 1 adolescent dog, 2 adult dogs, one of whom polices play between other dogs, the other one with a significant size/weight difference. Mama (& dahddy) know all 3 of us so well, quirks and all, and would have either used management to prevent this silly scene from occurring if they didn’t think we would be comfy w the complexities of it or called us out of it early on if anyone seemed stressed or overstimulated. A couple seconds after this video ended, mom actually used one of our positive interrupt words (“treats!”), something she knows we’ll break out of play for and come running to/with her bc we have a long, strong history of interrupting whatever we’re doing to get yummies. (If she were really trying to change the scene super quickly, though, she would have said “goat’s milk!” 😄) Bub dropped her bone, we stopped playing, and everybody ran into the kitchen.)
