Today’s progress report:
All shelves installed onto the frame. Big help from Mr Dawes today. The difference between the first time I built this design and the second is not comparable. I’ve been loving building this piece!
To-do before finish:
- Router “X” frame - Install “X” frame on back
- Plug/Stain holes where shelves were installed
- Install Hexbolts for rustic look even though they serve no real purpose but to look pretty... 💃🏼🕺🏻
- Build a cabinet with a shelf and doors (I’m still mentally preparing for that part) ...
- Drink wine and appreciate the fact that I won’t need to sand or stain for a bit
Great weekend so far and I’m hoping to make more progress in the upcoming week.
Tall broom cabinet done which means all 3 cabinets are done 🙌🏼. But in reality they’re so far from ready to install. Sanding and paint still to take place. And the doors! Still waiting on the doors to arrive! #hurryup#missimpatient
Also! You can see how the height of the new cabinet compares to the one I had in here before on the right. That one is 93” and my new one is....taller 😂 I forget the actual height!

Sunday…Funday?! Its a day of rest, reflection and…..football!! In the spirt of the payoff game today I thought I would share a home video from 2014. 😀 .
Let me set the scene for you….it’s Wisconsin….we all love football. Dane is 4 and I’m throwing spirals to him, Ellie is 7 and an excellent videographer…..Izzy, well Izzy is Izzy…..3 years old and being a true Packer fan wearing the flag as a cape. 🏈.
Enjoy! Who are you cheering on today?
We've got a tool guy do you? Well we kind of have a tool guy. You see our tool guy isn't a woodworker, doesn't know what most of the tools are call or how to use most of them but he does understand machines. The blade on the table saw was having trouble raising and lowering. I thought it was saw dust getting into the gears. If I cleaned it, it would get better for a day or two and then get stuck again. Dan looked at it for 3 minutes and had it running like a charm. He may not know much about the tools use but he's a great tool guy non the less. Who fixes your tools?

How many of you know the feeling of pure home JOY? 🥰 It comes by when we breathe… when we take a look around, and realise that we have a home which is a perfect fit to our essence.
It works perfectly with what we do and how we live! It is a reflection of ourselves and who we are and are looking to become...
If you haven’t felt this (or haven’t felt it lately), then that may be why you’re here... And... you are in the right place my friends!
Some of you already know that we are holding a very special moment for women who are READY to take back control and renovate a home that brings them JOY (of course, without getting scammed or going over budget)..
Lol, so many of us are on @mariekondo making sure our stuff brings us joy. Let’s take it one step further and make sure our whole house 🏡 bring us joy... .
We are almost full, with over 200 people already registered, so what i’ll ask is this..
If this is YOU and you are #ready to stop doing this all alone and learn how renovations are truly done as a BUILDHER, I’d like to give you a free private pass to this event.. Just comment “let’s build” below and we’ll save you a seat (until they all filled up!)
For everyone reading this that genuinely wants to take on a renovation the right way and doesn’t want to get mislead.. Let this be the moment things change!
Comment “let’s build” and we will see you live.

Crazy amount of progress made today! Although time sees to go by the fastest when woodworking.
I sanded the shelves with 60 grit to try and get them as flat as possible. Then used some wood filler, and sanded again.
I then stained all of them twice using @saman_stain in Castle Stone, and finished the framed with polyurethane.
Now it’s shower time because I’m am COVERED in sawdust. Productive little Saturday overall.

I’m in bed before 9am dog tired from a day of working on clearing brush in our backyard. I can’t wait to share a before and ‘now’ when I find the before picture. 😂 We are so thankful for my parents. They came over with dinner and a chainsaw. Many trees were turned into logs for our fire pit 🔥 🙌🏻
Sometimes progress makes it look worse... I accomplished my goal for the week of getting all the faceframe on the builtin lowers, inc on the adjustable shelves. 🙌
There is a flaw that I don’t ❤️ but to fix it would be going back almost to the beginning. So I’ll live with it and try to not notice it! Hoping to finish sanding and prime everything by Monday. Then paint and then the seat can be properly attached, the counters go on (sealed them this week too!) and I can focus on finishing the uppers. #wtghomechallenge@withinthegrove#buildlikeagirl#diy#houseonbroadway
There is always lots of work to be done outside of the shop. Woodworking is not just saws, chisels, dovetails and flawless finishes....although I wish it was! .
Not being in the shop today means projects on the smalls to get them ready for sale. Pictures, writing, posting.... .
This is the part I struggle the most on, posting and selling pieces that are not commissioned. .
What part do you struggle on? .
Progress on the fireplace cover! I can't wait to be done and see it in my friend's house! And let me tell you that I have a whole new respect for all you woodworkers out there that do mosaic or wall pieces that are all angles!
With 3 little ladies, this family is knee deep in beautiful chaos.

I know it’s usually #stateoftheshopsaturday , but can we take a minute and discuss my really messy outdoor shop? 😬 This renovation plus Christmas orders thing has gotten a little out of hand. Anyone wanna volunteer to come help me clean it up? You get to stay in Hawaii, and I pay in Oreos. 😂😂🤙

Don’t mind me...just over here doing demo on my brand new kitchen. 😂 This is what happens when you’re a woodworker and you can’t make up your mind. I want bigger shelves and different stain, so I’m re-doing these floating shelves I built last summer. 🤷🏼♀️😂
THIS headboard. 10 years ago, I was tired of cheap college furniture and wanted an upgrade. With my limited budget, I decided to build this headboard from @anawhitediy plans. It wasn’t perfect, but I loved it...and I’ve been hooked ever since!
3 Other Facts About Me

Mosaic pattern kitchen island is done! Excuse my while I over-gram this project, but it was a lot of work, and I’m happy to be done. 😂🙌

Since I can’t fit a full sheet of plywood in my car, I have to get it cut down at the store. But I’ve learned my lesson.... if they’re doing a cut across the grain, I ask them to cut it an inch longer than what I actually need. Then I trim it to final size at home using tape on the cross cuts to minimize splintering of the veneer. Maybe next time I should just bring tape with me to the store though 🤔🤔🤔
