That moment when you are trying to get a photo but your model won't stop being a joker 😆
We have been seeing lots of post in our feed about people preparing for summer to be over, but we feel like we are still right in the middle of it. With all the crazy good sunshine the UK had before we left and now all the good weather we have been so lucky to have in Europe, it feels like this summer just keeps going. We are so grateful to still be waking up to sunny days and hope this summer lasts forever #ourdailyvanlife
I am in love with our alfresco fan! Unfortunately we don’t really have a usable alfresco or any landscaping done yet so it has been neglected, but I can’t wait to finish and use our outdoor areas (hopefully is this year) 😍☀️The joys of building.. did you build, buy or are you renting? 🤔
The house has looked this way for awhile now with lots of inside work being done! Sheetrock is up with a final sand this week. Our beautiful garage door goes in this week, too. So on to Curtis building cabinets, paint, trim, flooring, all the final fun stuff!! We have been picking all of this out and its so hard to make these decisions. I think overall this home will have both of our unique touches and I can't wait to share it with you all 💞
I see the light at the end of the tunnel!! I can't wait to have an ice & water machine on my fridge door, a garbage disposal, garage attached to house. And I know this is just materialistic stuff and we've been without it for a long while and life goes on. But, it doesn't make me any less excited for it! Oh and the kids each have their own room!
The house may be small but it will be filled with Jesus, love and functionality! 😊

Timber is almost ready for install. Shout out to the Tamlin Homes craftsmen! Amazing work every time!
I forget how much I love our guest bedroom until I have to go in there for something. The door to It stays closed unless we have guest over because Kenai 💯 believes that is HER bed. So we keep the door closed to keep It dog hair free 🤗.
P.S. I’m missing a lamp because we needed It for something else in the house last week. We don’t own any other lamps right now🤷🏻♀️.
We’re spending every weekend at the house these days and starting to officially feel like homeowners! Things are moving pretty quickly now and it’s so fun to watch all the little details and decisions we made (SO many decisions) come to life. I’ll be posting a lot more on my stories as all the interior and exterior finishing details go up - stay tuned! | #customhomes#customhome#newbuild#whitefarmhouse#farmhousedesign#underconstruction
This is the view from when you walk in our front door! You look straight at the fireplace which has two doors on either side that lead to our deck. To the right, there will be a half wall and our staircase!
We finally finished digging our trench for the waterline. Tomorrow we will use shovels to clear out the debris and lay the pipe. I’m so ready to be finished! September in Alabama is not a great month for outdoor work 😅
Paint color woes...I’ve been planning on using SW Revere Pewter for months now...or most probably the 1/2 strength version. (On the right) And using it for most of the house. I am ready for some light colored walls, but now we’re thinking it may be TOO light! You can’t really tell it in this picture, but it actually looks super similar to the actual sheetrock color. 😆 So we might try it at 75%. But also, I want to go back to see it in morning light. Take a look at the second pic, though - it’s upstairs in the loft and the light version seems much darker, as I predicted. 😬 So I might need to go with an even paler color upstairs. There is more natural light in the upstairs bedrooms, but they still definitely look darker than any room downstairs. Got any color suggestions I should check out? Bonus points if you have photographic evidence in your feed! 😉 ~Kristen

TAKING SHAPE ~ yes, that is a blue sky you see... God be with the days! 🙄 We miss you summer!!! 😫😂😂 Pippa has always taken an unusually high interest in the build. She has to be with us to inspect the progress and loves showing people around... The steel structure you see jutting out is a canopy that leads you to the entrance which is hidden into the left... excited about making that a real feature... ☺️. #newbuildireland#selfbuild#selfbuildireland#foregirl#loughderg#comebacksummer#buildingahome
Our Lagun Table leg and table top are in 😎 We changed our mind right at the last second about our table. We were going to go for a collapsible pedistal or some other single leg option. We saw @40hoursoffreedom install one of these and we knew we had to do the same. The arm can pivot at two points and raise up and down, meaning it is super flexible #ourdailyvanlife#lagun

We have had so many questions in recent weeks asking about the layout of our kitchen, the size of it and where exactly the pantry/larder is at, so I hope this angle can help you visualise it. Our kitchen / diner is 8.5m x 4.7m and the island is 2m x 1m. The door to the left of our fridge units takes you into our larder. A few people have been asking about hidden larders where the entry door is concealed as being part of the kitchen. Although these look amazing we never really considered this as we wanted our pantry to be a separate room where we could add extra insulation and keep the food cooler. For this to work the door needs to be sealed as best possible to keep the heat out which I don't think would be easy to do using the same door as the kitchen cabinets 🤔
Our kitchen has stayed clean today as we were invited to my mum and dad's house for Sunday lunch and Alex's mum and dad's for tea. We love Sundays spent with family, even better when I don't have to do any cooking 🙊
