Rio, the perfect combination of city, mountains and sea. This past July we experienced winter in Rio and it felt like a completely different city! We were lucky enough to make it to the top of Mount Corcovado before it started pouring rain 🙈
Throwback to the month we lived in a van with @escapecampervans out west in the USA. It was possibly the best adventurous month of our collective lives together, with the week we spent in @joshuatreenps the most memorable. Joshua Tree National Park is the meeting place of two diverse desert ecosystems - the Mojave desert and the Colorado desert. The famous Joshua Trees are native to the Mojave, and the various other trees and cacti were so beautiful and interesting to learn about! Lena completed the @junior.ranger.nps program at each of the 11 national parks and monuments we visited that month, which consisted of learning activities to identify animal tracks (kangaroo rats, coyotes, and bighorn sheep to name a few!) and learn about the unique ecosystems within this particular park. Lena absolutely loved it. #worldschooling at its finest!
It was so hot and dry that we had to get all our hiking in before 10am, and we never once actually sweat because it would evaporate instantly. We had a solar shower (basically a bag we’d fill up with water and let it warm up in the sun) only we kept it out of the sun so we could have a cold shower to cool off. This was our one ‘shower’ the whole week that we camped in Joshua Tree.

A shot for all the walkers among us. This stunning shot was taken on the Isle of Skye at fairy pools! Although it may be a little rainy, it's well worth the trip for a view like this! What do you think?

One of the biggest neighborhoods in Rio the Rocinha complex has been attracting tourists for years. There are specialized tours for visiting Rocinha which sits close to famous city landmarks; and where you can take in vistas like this! Says @highwaybrazil

If you've never been to the Philippines, it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth, affordable – even cheap, and the people are so flipping nice it's unbelievable. They'll show you beautiful sights like this, give you food, invite you to their homes, and so much more. I need to go back!
Family life in Lefkoşa, the Turkish side (North Cyprus) of the divided capital of Nicosia. The difference between the two sides is very apparent, with them feeling like two very different countries. I hope that Cyprus can find peace and some sort of unity, without walls one day 🇨🇾🇹🇷

I love my #family I’m so #blessed to have such a strong, kind, thoughtful group that I proudly call mine. Live life to the fullest, be kind as often as possible and love at full capacity. ❤️ oh and of course #travel ALL DAY EVERY DAY 🌏🥰
This woman was selling chilies in the local market in Toraja, on the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia. ⠀
She knows she's picturesque. When I asked if I could take a picture, it was like she already knew I was going to ask. ⠀
I'm glad I did or I never would have captured this cute, if smug, smile. She wasn't going to put down her cigarette for the sake of a picture. Seems like that's becoming a theme.⠀

All freakin smiles today as I look toward what’s coming! 2019 is the year I stop being so damn scared of failure and take a chance on myself. It’s only January, and yet, I feel more accomplished already than I have in the last 3 years! One way or another, I’m going to build the life I’ve always wanted and not wait until retirement to enjoy my time on earth. If it scares you, it probably means it’s worth doing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s never too late to start believing in yourself! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When in @experiencecolombia, head down to Cocora valley. It’s beautiful!
Traveler @krystinesc says “ Cocora Valley, home of the world’s tallest palm trees. I loved everything about this place, so much that I visited twice! Hanging on to the outside of a Jeep to get there, the spooky ghost-like fog that covered the trees, the challenging 5 hour hike, and all the hummingbirds you can see on the way, it was hard not to love this place.
