Sourdough! Delicious, healthy and easy to make. This beautiful loaf was made yesterday evening and will be gone by this evening 😋
Step 2 on our path to reducing our plastic waste is making our own bread. We eat ALOT of bread in our home and the amount of plastic that comes with it is ridiculous. By making our own we are not only reducing our plastic consumption, we are eating healthier AND it is cheaper! Check out our blog below on making our own ...
What can be more simple than this..?!
When I was a child,if people say you had bread for breakfast they simply think you have a lazy mother (judgemental people😒)
But that was not going to stop our love for it. I still love them and going to bake them one day.
Every Sunday we used to wake up late and crave for some bread with eggs. My mom used to make eggs(with tomatoes and onions) other way and till date I haven't perfected it.
This is a lot easier and don't underestimate those brown breads. They were tossed in @amul_india garlic butter. If you haven't tried it .You got to. It gives a flavor for breads that you can eat those breads alone. If you are a garlic bread lover..This is the one for you.
Sunday Stew Part 2 - The Extras:
Something which really destresses me, and takes my mind off of things is baking and nothing else could be more perfect and easy to do than to make homemade bread, and dumplings!
For dumplings just follow the instructions on the packet of suet you buy (add any herbs or flavours you want). Add the dumplings to the stew for 20 minutes (lid off in a 200°C oven for a crispy top). For bread there is usually a recipe on the back of packs of strong bread flour, but the basics are 500g of flour, a packet of dried yeast, 1-2 teaspoons of salt, half a teaspoon of sugar, and 15g of oil/butter mixed with around 300ml of water ish.
Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and stretchy and let it rise for an hour in a bowl covered with a damp towel or cling film. Then place in a bread mold, or free form it by rolling into whatever shape and placing on a tray. Leave to rise for another hour then bake in a 220°C (200 Fan) oven for 30-40 minutes.
Tip with bread is to place a baking tray with some water in at the bottom of the oven to create steam which promotes a better, tastier crust. You can also give the bread an egg wash before baking for a more golden finish.

Sometimes I eat white sometimes I eat brown you?
Fricking love this post from the Doc in the know @unfattening
A word from me
Just to be clear no one is saying you have to eat either and no one is saying you should live entirely off bread.
But what is being said is that to eat either is quite ok. You can decide for you which suits you totally and utterly guilt free.
I bid you bon nuit!
Over to @unfattening for some wizardry words of sense ・・・
This post is dedicated to the person that told me white bread had ‘zero benefits’ and that I was encouraging people to eat junk food.
Well that’s just plain wrong. White bread has nutrients. Granted, it has less nutrients than brown bread, but it is still a valid food source. It is still nourishing. Sometimes it’s what your body needs both physically and psychologically.
Don’t let anyone shame you when you don’t pick the most nutrient dense thing to eat. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life eating kale and quinoa. Nutrient dense foods are important, but so is variety.
I’m off to eat some toasted white bread slathered in salted butter. Improving my relationship with food one slice at a time.

Alot of people tend to skip breakfast as we all love to tap that snooze button in the morning. But next time just take a few moments to have something to eat as it can really make a difference to your day. If you don't have time to eat before leaving the house (like me) there are a lots of breakfast ideas that can be eaten on-the-go or when you get to work.
Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast. It should be eaten within two hours of waking. A healthy breakfast should provide calories in the range of 20-35% of your guideline daily allowance.
