Views of home ♡ We are getting very excited about opening in beautiful Kiama!! Such a stunning area and under two hours from Sydney! • • •⠀ #repost@kiamansw⠀ Saddleback Mountain Lookout ⛰
The glorious lookout offers visitors breath-taking views of the South Coast. On a clear day you can soak in the view from Cronulla in the north down to Milton in the south. While the north-facing viewing platform (off the main car park) is excellent, be sure to check out the recently opened southern platform further up from the main car park.
It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves ⛰🇬🇷
June 13, 2017 - On this day, we hiked 6km up to the Astraka Refuge, on Mount Tymfi. It was a 5 hour hike. The first 30 minutes were manageable but around the first hour, my lungs started giving out and I almost had an asthma attack. Luckily, one of my new friends knew how to help me calm down, found my inhaler in my backpack, and remained in the back of the group with me as we continued the climb. I got to know him really well and he was a saving grace as he helped take my mind off the fact that I was panting and gasping for air, my chest and legs were on fire, and my feet were ready to give out. We made it to the top and there has never been a prouder moment in my life. I pushed through the pain and was rewarded with the most astonishing views a native Floridian had ever seen. A couple hours after that first hike, some other friends and I hiked up to a different part of the mountain and we were quickly ushered back down as we found out that we had trespassed into a restricted area due to its dangerous elevation and topography. Whoops.
The next morning, at 5am, the second hike started. We went down and back up to the Dragon Lake (Drakolimni Lake of Tymfi) which was worth the early start. It was the most serene place I had ever been in on land. Mountains are truly a magical place. 🌀⛰
