#motivationmonday Courage isn't always about fighting. It's sometimes taking time out to dust yourself off so that you can get back in the ring and fight like you've never fought before...
Good luck to all of my fellow WBFF pros entering peak week for the 2018 Worlds in Las Vegas! 🙏🏼🏆🌍

This is Ricky Welling, IFBB pro. He won the British overall title in 2001. Great physique, amazing quads and calves. Great symmetry.
What makes this man even more incredible is that he is BLIND! A genetic condition made him gradually lose his sight from the age of 16.
I first met Rick backstage at the British finals in 1995 when I accidentally slammed a door in his face. I didn’t know he was blind, did I?!
We became friends afterwards as I helped him on and off the stage for comparisons at that comp. He was right next to me on stage.
He had more or less retired from the sport until he came to train at Body Limit Gym in St Albans. I asked him to be my training partner and promised to help him win his IFBB pro card. That was 1999. He won his pro card two years later. I prepped him for that. He looked awesome. The crowd loved him.
We used to train like animals. He was stronger than I was on quads and always lifted more than he thought he was lifting because as soon as he got ready to do his set, I’d delay him deliberately and make someone add more weight quietly so he couldn’t hear. That pushed him and pushed me too. Deep down he knew, I think.
I love people who look adversity in the face and say, “FUCK YOU, I’m gonna do this so try and stop me.”
It’s only now that I realise how incredible what this man did was! He won his class and the overall British title!
Just think about it: He is blind, he didn’t let that stop him. He trained hard, dieted hard and got himself to look that good! How awesome is that? My brother threw sand in my eyes once. I couldn’t see for over two minutes. I thought I was gonna die!
If that’s not MOTIVATION, I don’t know what is. We can all learn about determination and discipline from Rick. However much you’re suffering, however hard you’re working, always remember that there is someone out there who wishes they had the opportunities you have. Challenge yourself and don’t give up because of a hiccup.
Salute you, Rick!

Posting my favorite picture of all time to motivate the fricken shit out of myself. I killed my training and nutrition last week and I had my “treat” meal last night and of course my body wants to say fuck you and gain 7 pounds lol. So I’m trying not to get in my own head. I have a concrete goal I’m trying to earn and I’m here for it baby.
