Two crumpets with butter and smoked salmon, fried egg, two mini peppers, blackberries, and a mug of tea. They sell crumpets at Hy-Vee and they taste like a chewier version of English muffins. Have a happy Sunday!
Oops - overbaked my baked apples (still coming from garden cold storage). These beauties are stuffed with last year’s gin soaked sloes, some freezer goodies (foraged elderberries, blackberries and blueberries) and honey. Warming pudding after a morning sea swim and wreath making session. Hopefully there’ll be some breakfast leftovers tomorrow 🍎😋🤞

No joke, best waffles EVER! Granted, I’m by no means a waffle expert, nor do I eat that many waffles.... come to think of it, I don’t generally care for waffles, BUT this changed my whole world. It was fluffy and crunchy at the same time... and surprisingly light. The rest of their breakfast and coffee is pretty good too. Crawling out of bed only to make myself a bowl of porridge 🙈. This week I successfully managed to switch my cherry pie oats for this spiced blackberry combo, although I must admit, I still prefer frozen cherries! I’ve been making them with 1/2 a teaspoon each of ground cinnamon and ginger as not only do they taste amazing together, but they both have great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. A pretty good way to start the day in my books!
