18th November is a special day in my life for 2 reasons. One it is my elder sister’s birthday Secondly , this is the day in 2013 we lost someone very close to us, a surrogate father Dr Dr.C.D Sidhu and aunty Gyan Kaur, his wife,a noble soul,a mother to innumerable who passed away exactly a week later on 26th.
Yesterday I wanted to wear the gorgeous sari that I wore today, gifted to me by their daughters, sisters to me. However, it was a Sunday and I didn’t go to work. This was a brand new sari with a matching blouse in running length that belonged to aunty and the girls gifted to me after aunty’s death to keep as a remembrance.
They are family to us.Dr.Sidhu, Ph.D in English ( Lit) from Wisconsin, was a professor of English at Hans Raj College and taught George Bernard Shaw and was a Sahitya Kala Parishad award winner punjabi playright. He was Vinod's teacher, mentor, friend, philosopher and guide.Vinod was the son he never had.I was treated as the eldest daughter and we received immense love from the family.
The sari is a light mouse coloured crepe with a gorgeous red border and pallu with beautiful khari work in gold and the design makes it look like a Balucheri sari.Last year after I wore it in October,I gave it to my bestie Mini to get the plain body covered with gorgeous red and golden block printed floral motifs.Mahesh, the differently abled boy , polio afflicted in one leg,did a great job.It has lifted the sari to another level.
I wore a red blouse with zari border belonging to a Chanderi Sari
My bindi is inspired by the floral motifs and is handcrafted using red liquid bindi.
My potli is a beige with beautiful patch worked red paisleys with sequins. It was bought at the annual sale of the orphanage Palna where bestie Mini does voluntary work.
My necklace is made of red chunky beads with a striking pendant. The tops are made of red bloodstones. The red plastic kada is from Nagpur and has a flat gold bangle embedded within.
Dear Airi, blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love and festivities. .
I know you can’t wait to grow up, I know you’ll get busy and I know you’ll throw on your jeans and tees to run around. But I also know that you’ll love your occasions and be super excited of the festivals that comes all around the year just like your mamma. A time to relieve those pieces that’s been collected over the years. I am sure you’ll be as excited as your mamma to open up that closet to adore the traditions someday. .
Dear Airi, I have one for you. I am building one for you. I hope you open it someday with love, I hope you wear them someday with grace, I hope you treasure them like your traditions and look as beautiful as you did today at 6 months old. This was your first out of the many that will follow, this was on your first visit to the temple on the occasion of Durgasthami puja. The Bindi Issue
Trust me sisters even i have committed this sin but now i seek for Allah's forgiveness.
And Allah SWT is the only power who can forgive us for our sins as and when we say Astaghfirullah from all those sins that we have done in our past or still doing. Also we should promise ourselves and firstly to Allah SWT that we will not commit that sin ever and ever again. We have full liberty to seek Hidayath from Allah SWT.
We will Pray and cry for Hidayath from Allah SWT, Inn shaa allah Allah will show us the right path Ameen.
The concept of Morden Day Maharani is an inspiration derived from each of us. We all have a royalty in us and that royalty is our attitude to be and remain who we are. The perfection each of us strive to have in our lives talks enough about this royal section of attitude. Colors and clothing just help us put that picture in place and render it to shine out bright and beautiful.
The collection #bindi is inspired by those colors for the # mordendaymaharani #indianheritage#colorsofindia#handcrafted
