Winter-Wonderland high above the German Ahrtal at Altenahr.
Gorgeous light creeping through misty clouds as they are getting thinner and thinner.
We climbed all possible tracks around this awesome german village and started very early in the morning.
(Secret: this was last years photo ☺️)
The Eurasian beaver is a species of beaver not long ago it was almost extinct but now it’s seen as least concern.
They are part of the rodant family and are the second biggest after the capybara.
They built dams to bring the entranced the den or lodge underwater. These dams are crusial for a lot of species cause they create calm save waters and help the making of wetlands. They are important for a lot of fish species including salmon, stickleback and more also toads, frogs 🐸 and salamanders make thankful use of these pools and a lot of birds especially singing birds who need the plants who exclusively grow in the beaver created wetlands are using these beaver wetlands. Even the water is proven to be more healthy.
These beaver want the opening of there lodge underwater so they are save for wolves🐺 , foxes🦊 and bears🐻. They also have an better way of finding food underwater in the winter ❄️.
The dam is built of wood, sticks, trees, leaves 🍁 and stones. There is also an American beaver who also is introduced in Finland 🇫🇮, Scandinavia.
The dams can reach 1 meter to 100 meters long.
