Can anyone guess what I’m doing here?
And yes – that is me! I wanted to take a closer look at a fish-aggregating device, a ‘FAD’ for short. I couldn’t resist…They have a powerful impact on the seas near Palau. There’s actually nothing fad-like about them – FADs are pretty standard equipment.
They basically attract ocean-going fish, such as marlin and tuna, which use FADs to mark locations for mating activities. Unsurprisingly, these devices have become especially popular in commercial fishing fleets, and in some places they’re even protected by armed guards, making sure competitors don’t destroy them or steal the fish around them.
Low-tech and anchored, this one was little more than a plastic buoy. I visited three more FADs that day, but none had the large fish that they were supposed to attract. I explain why in my chapter ‘The Lone Patrol’ of The Outlaw Ocean.

So I called to check in on my Daddy last week and he mentioned how he's been feeling tired and that he misses jogging (someone used to take him jogging in the park, however it's been 4 years since that stopped)
° - so I asked: Would you like to start jogging again? We can go like 2 - 3 times a week - he replies (with joy and a smile I could feel over the phone): Oh, that would be nice; that would be really nice.
And here we are 💖💖💖💖
**and of course I invited Cool Cat Uncle Pete to join us👬🏿
(From my perspective) It's important to still vibe with our Elders...and not just for us to pick their minds and soak up wisdom - yet to simply CARE about THEM....
They are STILL living. They STILL have things they INjoy and would like to do. They STILL have a voice.....and one day should it be our path, we will one day be an elder ourselves. #ImagesMatter#AlternativeExamplesMatter #360LIVING#Reflections#Mirrors #CyclesOfLife#BeneathTheSurface #BEing#LIVINGit#MemoriesMatter

“Surely there’s an app for that” - a phrase that I say nearly every week. But after months of trial, error and frustration, Regan Jones found himself with no other option but to create his own.
An electrician with an Executive MBA, Regan’s a very interesting and inspirational character in resources industry, and it’s a pleasure to welcome him to episode 13 of Beneath the Surface (www.seanlavin.co/podcast).
Regan’s worked onshore, offshore, locally, internationally, and I dare say has worked nearly every roster out there.
In this episode we focus primarily on two topics - how Regan saved the life of close colleague on a job in the Indian Ocean and One Minute Closer - his lifestyle and roster app that’s completely changed the game for shift workers, FIFO and beyond.
I encourage you to do two things after tuning into this episode: download One Minute Closer and sign up for that First-Aid refresher.
There’s so much value here - I could’ve easily talked to Regan all day, enjoy... .

If you listen to some of my favorite songs, you would learn so much about me.
Especially the things I don’t openly talk about.
We only post the things we want everyone to know.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.
Looking back on Seas to Trees Day 2019, we definitely can’t forget about the amazing partner organizations that we worked with to make each of the volunteer projects possible! Each of these organizations does so much caring for the environment, and we’re so happy to get to work with them on such a fun day like Seas to Trees! •
Be sure to check out each of these organizations!

Another talented member of Kew Studio, Sandra Beccarelli has had this painting selected for the RA Summer Exhibition!! #Repost@sandrabeccarelli with @get_repost
"Broken Skin- Textures of Movements"
Selected for this year's R.A Summer Exhibition.
I barely saw these two vents tucked away between a gritting bin and parked cars. Each find is like a mini celebration. This is a rare combination of green and grey paint for some clever camouflaging- this particular set in Clifton.
I'm pleased to announce a new workshop topic through Beneath the Surface Motivation & Coaching.
This workshop focuses on my experiences of sleeping rough in Western Australia when I was 16 & 17 years old and how these experiences continue to shape my life today. I discuss how I became homeless, how I managed to get off the street and the impacts it has some 20 years later.
Each talk and workshop includes a Q&A session where I answer questions about my experiences and give a unique and tailored experience. If you're interested in finding out more about this workshop or any others please feel free to contact me.
All I’m going to say at this time is that if you have someone who makes you FEEL beautiful, start focusing on that person. Love is not and has never been about who you look “cute” with. All that stuff is superficial and doesn’t feed your soul. Every time you overlook someone’s heart or the amazing qualities they have and bring into your life—you’re pushing yourself further away from what is real love. And vice-versa. Don’t become someone’s trophy wife or husband. Know why someone is with you and be sure that it’s not only because of appearances and perception. The right person for you will instill more good qualities in you and you both encourage and inspire each other to be great. @iamtonio1987

ART PROJECT “Don’t Label Me” @savannah.clarke
Some of the symbolism behind this series.
The ribbon through the mouth - as an artist, as soon as you share a piece of work, you have no say or control of how someone perceives that work. It’s the same with people. Are we categorised? Are we labelled?
Or maybe we are happy in silence and have strength and confidence in ourselves. We are happy to be categorised or labelled and it gives us a sense we belong somewhere. Is it ok to be labelled?
The numerous ribbons wrapped around the neck and head- from a model or artist or personal perspective ...are we choking with social media and just everyday life the way people perceive us?
Or is it holding us together? Is it bringing people together from all corners of the world? Is there structure in labels?
Black and White is always a favourite of mine. It tells the story and there is strength in simplicity.
