Paradise doesn't have to be tropical!! #PowPow
Welcome to the beautiful province of British Columbia, where we are finally back after 8 long years. This place actually means a lot to us, since it's where our jumping movement began back in 2011. Back then our first adventure as Globe Jumpers, started by crossing from East Coast Canada to #WestCoast Canada, with our first stop in the great Canadian Rockies 🏔 more to follow... #KeepJumping#GlobeJumpers
One of the earliest expeditions undertaken to document plants in northeastern BC was by American, Mary Henry. Circle back to 1931, Henry set out into the unknown wilds of the northern Rockies on a series of expeditions in search of an apparent, “Tropical paradise in the North”. With a pack string of a few dozen horses, local Kaska-Dena guides eventually led her to a natural hot spring on the Toad River. Although she was able to uncover plenty of information along the way, it was likely she was referring to another oasis further northwest - a place we now know as the Liard River Hot Springs.
In my opinion, the popular destination along the Alaska Highway is best experienced in the depths winter. Steam rising off of the bath tub warm water, encroached with frosted covered trees, it can often feel as if you are entering a new, undiscovered world. Perhaps, more so when you have it all to yourself :)
