Round Two: @pecanlodge
Ok. That was intense. Dad loved it. The pork ribs have a lot of meat, and the beef rib (singular) looked like it was from an animal that a hero had to defeat. Also it was delicious. The flavor of meat here has complexity and depth and just feels larger. The jalapeño sausage was amazing and my god I’m so stuffed I could only handle one bite. Ok two...
The beans were good but I don’t care nap
I guess #BBQ is in my genes... The year was 1955, when my grandpa "Gene" Joh won the local #Recipe / #Food contest in his town. Interesting that few of the contest winners were male back then... in this "new trend toward barbecues" I guess BBQ can be credited for getting us guys cooken!
Grandpa Joh's #BBQsauce recipe:
- 1 cup olive oil
- 3 cups red wine
- 3/4 cup finely chopped mushrooms
- 3/4 cup tomato paste
- 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, stirring frequently...
My bbq sauce set into more of a paste but I put it on my chicken anyway and it was AMAZING loving having homemade bbq sauce back on the menu, can’t believe it took me so long to try a low sugar version #weightwatchers#bbqsauce#bbqchicken#dinner
It’s on. Shit just got real. Dad and I are starting our adventure at the baseline. Sonny Bryan’s.
Arthur is “consulting” for cousin Luiz in Brazil, so we’re touring #texasbbq joints for the next week.
I’m putting my pretentious veganism on hold.
Sonny Bryan’s is amazing. And their sweet tea, just made, is gonna force us over to Parkland for an insulin shot.
Dad just said he’s hungry. On to Stop 2.
