Babies are expensive y'all! 💸 That should come as no surprise, especially since this isn't our first go around. But our two girls are a little more than 3 years apart, and we forgot about all the little expenses that pop up.
When we had L we knew we were going to eventually have a second. So we saved all of her clothes. Now that A is here, we're realizing that a lot of L's old clothes won't work because the girls were born in two different seasons 🌱➡️🍁 So I went through all of the clothes and made three piles: trash, donate, & consign.
About a month ago, I took the consignment clothes to a local store and received over $120 in store credit! I bought some clothes for the girls and a bike to put away for L's birthday. I walked away with about $55 left in store credit.
Fast forward to today. We stopped by the store to see if they had any activity centers/exersaucers for A. We were just about to check out when I spotted this one under a rack of clothes. All the pieces were in the plastic bag and it seemed to be in decent shape. The owner said since she's moving and needed to get rid of the larger items (plus the fact that she had loaned it to a friend and it still needed to be wiped down), she'd sell it to me for $5. Then she said, well, I've got a $5 off coupon online right now, so you can have it for free. FREE!
Even better than the fact that it was free, A has been playing in it the majority of the day. She loves it! And since we still have a little more than $30 in store credit left, I can't wait to see what we find the next time we stop by 😁
TIPS FOR LESS BLOATING+BETTER DIGESTION
Who are you being when you’re eating? 🔮
So much focus is put on WHAT we eat (for obvious reasons) but no one ever talks about HOW we eat.
Are you eating under stress?
Are you eating in under 5 minutes in a complete rush?
Are you eating while staring at your computer not paying attention to the meal at all?
Are you chewing your food 2-3x (should be closer to 25x!!!) before shoveling another bite in?!
We have 2 nervous systems in our body.
Parasympathetic and sympathetic.
The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for our “fight or flight” response.
So in contrast, the parasympathetic nervous system is referred to as “rest and digest.”
If we eat while stressed, while rushing, while gossiping, while working.....
We are not in rest and digest state.
We are in fight or flight, whether we feel highly stressed or not.
When this happens,
we don’t chew,
we don’t breathe,
we don’t even taste our food!
This leads to bloating, lack of nutrient absorption due to lack of enzyme production (since you gave your body 0 time and didn’t chew), and not feeling fully satisfied because the brain didn’t experience a restful meal.
How to fix it:
•set aside specific windows for eating, at least 20 minutes
•chew each bite of food 20-30x - this will seem like a lot at first. But you’ll get use to it. This is the first step in digestion & alerts the body to create digestive enzymes
•take breaks between bites for deep breaths
•practice gratitude for your meal- it is sacred. Acknowledge the colors, the smells, the taste... ENJOY!
How you’ll benefit:
•feel calm & refreshed after a meal
•naturally eat less because you aren’t rushing past your bodies “full” signal
•better nutrient absorption

I am trying to do something Positive and safe to help improve my #mood and decrease my #anxiety and #stress. I feel defeated because I couldn't do the entire 30 minute video. I started to feel shaky and my heart was pounding. At moments like this my head says the most hurtful things about myself and my body. I am trying to keep the thought that this time last year I was more depressed and using unhealthy behaviors than this year. #babysteps
today, i showered on my feet for the first time in 3 months. i still had the stool by me & i did have to sit towards the end, and it was only a 5 minute shower, but at least it was longer than 2 minutes! i was even able to have the water warm for once. this is huge for me ☺️ i thought it was important to post a memory of it because things could be different next shower since i am not well. but hey, all i can do is try. i am just happy that today i won and not my unknown illness :) #babysteps#sicknotweak#unknownillness#autoimmunedisease#chronicillness#chronicallyill#hopeful

For fall we were Red 😍 that time has pasted and we are lightening our way back up to blonde. Autumn and I only have done just a few Color Balance treatments, but even that takes time. .

You see, not too long ago, I bought an on-line marketing course. It was really expensive. Annnnnd each time I sit down to start building landing pages, create sales funnels, design a webinar, I freeze! I'm lost! I'm frozen! I feel like I'm not making any progress at all....because my focus is not on how far I've come...Nope. Nope. Nope. My focus is fixed on how far I have to go.
I feel like I am in a foreign country, can't speak the language, and can't get anywhere. Yes...I'm so scared of failing. I dont want to lose my investment. I know I WANT to climb this mountain...but I feel stuck and afraid....alot of the time. I OFTEN don't see how each little baby step has actually move me forward. It is hard to see your progress when you still have so far to go.
Even though our big mountains bring us big challenges... they also bring big blessing at the same time.
It is a blessing because... it reminds me how my clients might feel when invest in my program with there big scary and seemingly impossible weight-loss goals.
It is a blessing because... it reminds me to be compassionate & encouraging as clients learn a whole new way to move and nourish their bodies.
A blessing because...it grows me and provides me with an opportunity to not only face my fears, but over come them and step more fully into my power...so that I can serve clients better.
So embrace your weaknesses. Challenge your fears. And just take that next small step.
Day 185. Recently I was watching Miss Audrey scent-marking some things (rubbing her face on them) and it occurred to me that this was a new behavior for her, and not something I’ve ever seen Mr. Man do. Mind blown. 🐾 My initial understanding when I met them in the shelter and watched her sitting on top of him was that she needed the physical contact more than he did. I set out to try to get her to start transferring some of that need toward me instead of pile-driving it straight into Mighty all the time. Lately when she has been overly needy and smothering him, but he looks annoyed, I have been able to spare him by scooping my hands under her ribs on either side and giving her a hug of sorts, holding her up off of him. I have even managed to pull her backward away from him without upsetting anybody. And she keeps purring! And I keep petting her and rubbing her head and her cheeks and chest. Temple-Grandin-style, Audrey just wants the pressure and warmth of squishing up against somebody safe. I get it, Audrey. I get it. 😬🐾

Today we had a day focused on fun and spending quality time together. We started out our morning by going to the gym for a quick working. In the afternoon we went for well-needed massages (covered by our benefits plan). I travel a lot for work and find that a massage every month or so really helps with lower and upper back discomfort.
We also went for a belated Valentine’s Day special at our favourite cidery. We got 2 flights of cider and chocolate pairings for $15! Usually flights are $10.50 each so this was a great deal. We also went for a beer at our favourite local brewery.
Now we are home about to have homemade chicken tacos and a movie night on the couch.
We will spend the rest of the weekend going to the gym, baking/cooking, and doing some work. I have a CPR recertification that I need to do some work for as well as a few reports to write.

100%. 🌸 I don’t keep track of a bunch of spreadsheets and penny pinch just to have a million dollars in the bank someday. I am more in it for the freedom that comes with it! I can’t wait for the day that I have all of the income with no debt to pay off, and no car payment or mortgage to worry about. That day will be amazing!✨

I purchased my first ever cash-flowed car. It's a 2017 Toyota Yaris. The people at the dealership even told me that they never had a customer buy a car with cash. My car fund even had some extra to cover the 6 month insurance premiums and a winter emergency car kit. This was a long process and it took months and years of patience and discipline with saving, researching, and riding my bicycle for the past 2 and a half years, but it was worth it. Daily temptations. I'm glad I'm learning to say no but I do always ensure I keep something there for enjoyment. It's my purpose in this journey to enjoy, today, now, this hour but at the same time I have to get that debt figure to dissappear month by month.
