When we first came to Walthamstow, before we moved from Finsbury Park, we sat in here with a pot of tea and watched the locals walk by... Could we live here? Who would our friends be? Where would we buy our milk? Then the waitress came over and refilled our pot and gave us a few biscuits ‘for dunking and because it’s Saturday’...and we decided in that moment that we could, absolutely, live here. I have made some wonderful friends here in Walthamstow and am still so struck by what a close knit and welcoming community it is. Each morning I say hello to Lee my postman (and tell him off for wearing shorts in the cold), I stroll through the village with Isabelle most days and nearly always bump into someone I know... and in case you were wondering, we get our milk delivered from @parker.dairies in a red topped bottle that brings me disproportionate amounts of joy. I love where I live. (And I love biscuits).

[ #AD] I love how so many small independent shops & cafes there are in London. Shopping small and local is something that’s incredibly important to me so I’m very pleased indeed to be working with @americanexpressuk on its #ShopSmallUK campaign, encouraging us all to celebrate our local, independent shops. More and more, small businesses have been popping up in Walthamstow over the past few years and it is these local gems that make me fall in love with The Stow even more 💛 @debbieblisshome is one of my local favourites and I’m in here A LOT (even more now that I have a little girl!).
To find participating independent shops & cafes near you, there’s a snazzy online interactive Shop Small map 🙌🏽. Search ‘Amex Shop Small’ for more information.

Village pubs in the heart of London are like the beating hearts of our neighbourhoods. This one, a few mins walk away from my home, has a sensational burger. And a piano. And a cat 🐱. I snapped it on my and Isabelle’s walk yesterday and thought again, how lucky I was to live in the village of Walthamstow, with its rough edges, its historic quaintness & incredible community spirit... 💛

The great Smash Up of 2018. This was the moment I knew there was no going back... we were doing our side return extension and we were moving in with my mum and I was pregnant. And then, around 4 months later, it was done. We were in. And if you swipe you can see the results - we could not be more thrilled. The final part of our building project is up on the blog today, with links to the team and all products we sourced. Hope you enjoy!

[AD] You may wonder why I’m looking so happy, standing in the freezing cold by the Christmas tree in the village square. There was a proper bite in the air yesterday morning, but my hands were roasty toasty, thanks to the HAMAZING HotHands Warmers I had in my pockets ;) I hadn’t heard of these nifty little numbers until recently, but they are truly incredible and my new Winter essential... (on a par with massive thermal pants). They are air-activated heat packs and last up to TEN HOURS!!! Head over to my stories to see more about them and a link to buy (they’re only £1 for a pack of 2)... My pockets have never been cosier :) 🔥🔥🔥
