La palabra yoga procede de la raíz sanscrita “yuj” que significa fusionar, juntar, unir, es pues, una ciencia, arte y filosofía de vida que integra entre sí los tres planos de la existencia del ser humano (mente, cuerpo y espíritu), y al individuo con el Universo, lo Supremo, Dios o el Todo, mediante el Shamadhi (estado de felicidad, armonía y plenitud). El yoga es uno de los seis sistemas fundamentales del pensamiento de la India o del hinduismo. Se diferencia de los otros por proporcionar el control del cuerpo y el poder mágico atribuido a sus devotos avanzados.
El yoga es una disciplina espiritual y corporal que permite la expulsión de las tensiones y los pesares de la vida cotidiana, de las enfermedades y de las fluctuaciones de la mente. Proporciona serenidad y compostura y un estado de unidad interior frente a las distintas batallas que hemos de librar en nuestra vida.
Es el arte de conocerse a uno mismo y de conocer la verdad eterna. El yoga es el estudio del funcionamiento del cuerpo, de la mente, del intelecto en el proceso de alcanzar la liberación. Becoming a Yoga Teacher Has been one of the best journeys I've had. I recently got my 200 Hour Yoga Training in Siem Reap, Cambodia while living and working there for the past year. Four month later, my passion for yoga is only growing stronger with each passing day and I am proud to be in this wonderful, fast growing industry that can be a combination of a hobby and career at the same time. I enjoyed the most laziest of days yesterday. It was my day off, and instead of filling it up with fun stuff to do- I decided to rest. I didn’t wear make up, no fancy hair, only jogger sweats and my J’s kinda day. I also filled it with tons of freestyle yoga (All this after 2 1/2 hr heavy leg day at the gym). It was pretty magical. —————————
Now back at it- work, teaching and planning for the future.

Happy Meowga Monday from Emerson and the Om with Em Meowga Studio. Today’s asana is a back bend with a spinal twist. Advanced Meowgis can lift their hips. Beginning Meowgis can lie flat. Today, I’m a trying to create calm in the CAPS office. I’m on Meowmy’s yoga mat spreading positive healing energy. Ommmmmm! Meowmy turned off the air purifier last night to go to Whole Foods. She returned to her office to find it reeking of skunk. She started itching; her eyes swelled and felt like sandpaper; her ears swelled. She finally felt better 5 hours after taking a Claritin. Thanks to Auntie Di @chicksr374 for talking with her on the phone. May your cataract surgery go well today. I woke Meowmy at 530 for breakfast. Once she came downstairs to feed us, she took apart the dog sofa to wash it. She mopped the office, kitchen and hallways with vinegar and water. Then she sat down to send off a grant. Her MacBook had a stuck space bar. So she went to Whole Foods to get a vegan donut and to @peetscoffee@capitalonecafe for a soy mocha with coconut whipped cream. Now she’s @apple. Look at the second photo of Wylie and Oliver. Meowmy is threatening to take than back to the groomer. Oh oh. Naughty boys. Nameowste Meowgis.
The third limb in the ancient science of Ashtanga is the yoga posture known as Asana. Asana or yoga pose, many people think it means touching the toes, but asana is more about touching the soul.
Learning to be still in the middle of it all. The word "Asana" literally means “Seat.” It’s not like a sport when you trying to compete. A regular practice can generate health so that we can pursue the knowledge of the ourself. @mcyogi 🙏🏽

This pose opens your hamstrings and the front body. It’s a great prep for a full standing split.
1. Runners Stretch, hold for 8 breaths each side
2. Extended camel pose, hold for 5 breaths each side
3. Grab your heel
4. Push the hips forward, engage your quads
5. Slowly extend your leg and lean back
6. Engage your core for more balance and extend your leg as much as you can.

It’s incredibly important to isolate elements of the body to aid our yoga practise. We work with strength to help support our flexibility, making yoga safe. . .
I underestimated how challenging it would be. I would hit a brick wall each time I reached 40 seconds, I kept going until I got there. My legs felt the strengthening affect for days afterwards. Try it! Let me know how it goes! .
👉🏻Be mindful not to wham into the back of the knee of the standing leg, try pulling up on the knee cap. 👉🏻Drive through the heel of the raised leg.
👉🏻Don’t let the hips open, keep them squared. 👉🏻Work towards straightening the arms.

If yesterday we worked on the forward-backward movement, today we study the lateral ones, see how much we can move (and how far) always staying on the same plane. By all means, if you need a wall behind, feel free to use one or, if you’d rather work the same mobility in Forearm Balance or Handstand, also feel free to step it up. The idea behind this #inversion is to learn to engage the sides of the body, control its movements, so we can stabilize ourselves better. Once you open the legs wide, into Transversal Splits (or close to that shape), bend one knee NOT towards the chest but point it out, away from you, engage those hip flexors and use that leg to counterbalance the other one descending laterally, aiming the tip toes towards the floor. Remember to keep the spine straight, hips above the shoulders and bend laterally right at the waist line. Forger how ‘low’ the foot can get and focus on the range of motion and mobility you’re gaining in the torso. To come out, tilt the pelvis back to neutral and repeat on the other side. If you do a few reps on each leg and then attempt to hold (or press) into Handstand or Pincha, you’ll have a different awareness of that area. Notice how you can stay a lot more comfortably, without using the arms/shoulders/upper back, as much... Pincha and Handstand people: don’t risk and go too low or you’ll likely won’t be able to recover! Be consistent and keep at it... Comment below how it feels or let me know what issues you find. Time to go upside down!!!
