WOW! ANOTHER POST IN THE SAME DAY??
YOU BET, FAM.
This was actually my Christmas present for a very, very special someone.
I got it printed on a 14 x 14 canvas.
I’d insert a picture of the original photo, but I think I’ll do us a favor and pay us both the respect of letting you all wonder how much a close resemblance we are in the drawing vs. in real life.
I get the toony style, I had to take the photo and do a simplified, tweaked outline. After that, I a separate free-hand sketch with a slightly larger brush, keeping both the outline and original photo in view. Finally, I used the last sketch only as a visual reference and free-handed the final sketch— which easily became the basis of my finalized drawing.
This drawing had the nose specifically inspired after another artist’s style, as I found it difficult to “translate” the photo to something cartoon.
It was a candid photo, taken by a friend. The poses were very natural and in-the-moment, which made it even more enjoyable to draw. Not to mention that the quotes in the background are personal— giving it a very deep and profound meaning.
I love him.
Me: I must not buy any more brushes... I must not buy any more brushes... Also me: oh look, new brushes! 😂🙈
Seriously though, my paint brushes (or rainbow wands as @kimberleyeddy called them this week) are my fave thing and I LOVE all the different markings they make 😍
