Please take a moment to recognize and remember the 1,500,000 lives that were lost on April 24, 1915 in the Ottoman Empire due to the Armenian Genocide. Tensions between the Ottomans and Armenians began after multiple failed attempts at a coup d’état by the Young Turks rebel group. They were a combination of liberal constitutionalists and nationalists fighting for equality in the empire, as many minority ethnic groups were oppressed. After their revolts failed a large amount of Armenians were relocated around the empire to be starved and murdered. Let’s not just remember those in the Armenian genocide by also those in the Assyrian and Greek Genocides also occurring with the empire at similar times.
