ALPENÜBERQUERUNG (CROSSING THE ALPS), 2014 by Susanne Koheil and Guenter Wintgens ( #37 Alpenüberquerung 6)
»Alpenüberquerung« is a video project on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the studio building Speicher II in Muenster (North Rhine-Westfalia, Germany). Over a 30-day period we staged video sketches that we made from 2004 till 2014 in public. Publically here means, we presented the videos from the inside to the outside, using a translucent screen that we fixed to a window frame. We use the title »Alpenüberquerung« as a metaphore for the particular situation of an artist in life as such. Besides, it refers to Alpine crossings we did by car and, of course, it alludes to famous paintings that show Hannibal crossing the Alps in the year 218 B.C. – especially Joseph Mallord William Turner’s »Snow Storm: Hannibal and his Army Crossing the Alps«, 1812.
Bright mornings at the 🇮🇪 coast high above the Fanad Head Lighthouse. While the waves endlessly crashed against the rugged coastline, the light broke through the clouds, turning everything it touched golden. s/o to my bud @formgestalter for providing the angle!
