Waking up to fresh tulips from the field (what a thoughtful gesture from our driver, Wim), clean sheet, sunshine to my room and smell of a new day.. It’s been a 5 amazing days with this quirky and unique city (no time for red light though, only museums 😓) #tilnexttime#iamsterdam#aliceinamsterdam 🍭🍄🍭🍄
I had an appointment in De Pijp today but when I got to the café it was closed. I learned that the entire neighborhood and surroundings had had a power failure. So no electricity since the morning. I cycled past 5 cafés and they were all closed. Everybody was stressed on the streets. Cyclists arguing with car drivers, stores closed, hordes of tourists on the streets, hasty and confused locals running and cycling in circles, firemen sirens. It felt like it was crowded everywhere. In the meanwhile I realized that not only my first appointment had to be cancelled, the second one as well. When I finally got to the city center I was annoyed already. One hour afterward I finally sat down to have a cappuccino and work. Before starting with the writing I grabbed my phone and saw this photo I had snapped on the way. I’m no longer annoyed. At least there’s a photo.
