One of the best things you learn when you arrive to Kodiak, AK, is that the eagles there are plentiful. So much so that they do not give much care to your giant boat, your supposed human superiority, or that the fish coming in on your boat is yours. I used to have a friend who would pull dozens of fish out of the water and come home with a handful if lucky due to swooping eagles stealing his fish out of a bucket. I had to walk around them on “their” sidewalks. And they’re much larger than they get in Minnesota or Wisconsin. They're pests in Kodiak, based on number. In this case this bird swooped in, chest out, ready to rip fish through a commercial boat’s net. The fishermen let it happen; after all, what can you do to thousands of protected birds awaiting your daily catch? For me, that's retribution for how we have treated nature. These eagles deserve those fish, and most fishermen didn't mind a few birds pulling fish flesh into their beaks. If you didn't see a dozen of the largest eagles you've ever encountered on your five-minute walk to work, something was awry. These birds rule Kodiak Island.
Frodo is attempting the “peak a week” challenge and dominating. So far he’s done 3 peaks over a 4 day stretch and going strong. Taking suggestions for what he should climb next.

Getting hit with a ton of bricks today (aka a butt load of new arrivals to upload, racks to build for the shop, blogs and photos to edit, all the techy stuff for the shop, dressing rooms to build and the list goes on and on) AND I LOVE IT 😍🙌🏼😎 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I cannot wait for the shop to be open!! I’ll be living there for the next week preparing so you’re more than welcome to stop by for some tea and maybe some unofficial shopping haha. I’m hoping to be fully open with real hours in the next week or two!!!
