Você se tornou a melhor parte de mim.
Chegou do nada e se tornou tudo.
Você mudou completamente a minha vida pra melhor.
Você é minha força pra tudo.
Não sei oq seria de mim sem você. ❤️
For most genres we can not overestimate the importance of a human touch and an organic feel. This can of course be achieved by letting people play an instrument or using samples of recordings you like. But probably most producers do not have a full band at their service at all given times, which can make the recording part difficult sometimes.
Thankfully technology and most modern DAWs give us the opportunity to mimic or simulate a human impact on a robotic or „too perfect“ take, that was created with surgically correct placed MIDI files.
With the use of different tools, we can get the organic flow back and make it sound more interesting in most cases.
BTW all of today’s samples and sounds are collected in a little pack, that you can download for free - link in story!
Step 1: sample
Find a sample with plenty of information. Try to choose one, that leaves room for transformation. Play around with different samples and you will understand the difference.
Step 2: plugins
First draw a long MIDI note, so the plugins have a point of reference. Now insert the arpeggiator and the ‚Random‘ plugin - increase the level of ‚chance‘. The last plugin you need for this trick is the ‚velocity‘ plugin, which will eventually impact your sample - ‚arpeggiated’ with ‚random‘ repetitions on a more or less heavy played back sample.
Tip: add noise
For this kind of Lo-Fi Hip Hop, you can always throw in some background noises - and maybe side chain them to your kick drum, to make it move more.
Of course and as always - there are multiple ways of getting the same result, but maybe while following along the description, you will get inspired for a completely new sound or effect. That’s why we love to experiment with different plugins and settings.
