Can the dark be good? Can you find beauty in the absence of light?
"If I say, “Let darkness surround me,
let the light around me be night,”
even darkness like this
is not too dark for you;
rather, night is as clear as day,
darkness and light are the same.
For you fashioned my consciousness,
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I thank you because I am awesomely made,
wonderfully; your works are wonders —
I know this very well.
My bones were not hidden from you
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.”
Psalm 139:11-15 CJB.
You were conceived in the dark. I’m not talking about your parents (TMI), I’m talking about the moment you became "you" physically. It happened it darkness, hidden within blood and tissue and organs and bone.
I love how the Psalmist goes straight from talking about darkness to conception. They are connected. It’s often the dark seasons of our lives that conceive new things in our hearts. Think about it. Suffering has a way of conceiving all kinds of things within us. Hope. Change. Plans. Vision. Purpose. Even healing (more on that tomorrow). Depending on what we partner with, if we’re not careful or vigilant, it could birth bitterness and resentment in us, too. But that my friend, is entirely up to you.
Darkness and light are the same. It’s not that God lights up the darkness and obliterates it, it's that darkness is useful and holy and powerful in its own right. And the Divine is in it just as much as in broad daylight.
You never know what is being conceived in you right now as you embrace the darkness you’re in. What could it be? Change? Vocation? Purpose? Perhaps forgiveness and understanding? Healing and courage? What is being intricately woven in the depths of your body and spirit as you travel through the dark seasons of life?
If something as magnificent as you were conceived and woven together in darkness, hidden from light, imagine what could come from the dark you’re in.

I’ve always been big on visualization.
When my husband and I first moved in together we had literally nothing. He had just graduated and opened his first office on borrowed money and I was still in school full time, bartending a few days a week.
His uncle was a home builder so he kindly offered to give us some of the older furniture out of the warehouse that they didn’t want for the model homes anymore. I was thankful he did that for us but I remember hating the fact my entire house was hand me down furniture that I didn’t get to pick out. I couldn’t wait for the day I could buy my own furniture.
Fast forward a few years and a couple kids later and we had a beautiful house ( and my own furniture lol) but it was an hour out of the city in the suburbs and I really wanted to live in south Tampa ( the city area) it was just still too expensive and we had both just opened a new business so not in our cards at that time.
I had two gyms, one of which was in the South Tampa area....and I remember going to do cardio on Bayshore blvd on my lunch breaks, pretending in my mind that I lived there. I just absolutely loved it. I made a vow that I would have a house there one day.... I had no idea how..but I was going to make it happen.
A few years later we moved near the end of Bayshore boulevard.... My visualization worked ... I literally manifested it 🙏🏼✨.
Our minds are such a amazing tool.. powerful beyond our comprehension. But just like it can be used positively, it can be used negatively, too.
Where you set your INTENTION daily is where you send you ATTENTION daily. You have to be aware and choose it wisely. That’s why I still wake up daily and review my goals ..and I mediate on them , too.
We went this weekend and looked at our next venture ... a bigger house :) if you’re not practicing visualization.. start yesterday. It works 💯.
