“Jump & learn to fly on the way down”
This has been a bit of a motto in life. When entering the unknown. Sometimes we need to jump. Commit. Decide, see it through & learn to fly as we go...
Change can be daunting & depending on what it is & the potential impact it could have on your life the fear will vary...
When faced with decisions in life we try to see it in a way that makes perfect sense. For it to be the way we need it to be to take the jump. Put another way the whole concept of ‘Ready, Aim, Fire’ leads us to believe that all needs to be lined up & in sight to pull the trigger (take action). When in reality a much more relevant way to put it would be ‘Ready, FIRE, Aim’. Take the action, make the jump & learn as you go...
Because in reality - is it ever perfect?
Is everything ever lined up?
Is it ever the right time?
Don’t fear change.
It’s a part of life.
Learn from it. .
In life, in business, in relationships change is inevitable. Making hard decisions that have a lot of weight is part of the journey. Let it steer you by taking lessons from the highs & lows...
With change comes opportunities.
Doors closing, others opening.
New decisions, new outcomes...
Becoming a Dad, starting a family, running businesses, moving away from family & friends when I was younger etc have all produced the most incredible times & incredibly tough times of my/our lives. Life changing moment that I stand so proud of...
And us now? Well this is us. Our collective decision of selling up, packing up & travelling Oz with the family is proving to be the most amazing life experience. We simplified, downsized & minimised but at the same time expanded so much more in life, family, relationships & experiences.. #EmbraceChange
Life’s race is only against yourself. The ‘highlight-reels’ of social media can catch us in a downward spiral of daily comparison - leaving us feeling inadequate or disappointed in our life’s choices...
Screw the highlight reel, this is the real reel...
We aren’t perfect, far from it.
We have doubt.
We feel the pressure.
We have days/times we don’t see/speak to anyone.
We have times of intense stress.
I step in shit.
The kids vomit on me.
We screw up.
Make bad decisions...
This is life.
And honestly, it’s dam amazing, with so much opportunity and possibility.
We choose what we focus on, and there’s so much beauty in our lives, and in the world.
We choose love.
We choose experiencing things.
We choose to support each other through the darkness and through the light.
We choose to surround ourselves, and be supported by others that light us up.
Focusing on what we don’t have can take away from the amazing things we do, and the amazing things we can be grateful for.
Embrace life in all its glory.
Embrace the process.
Embrace the suck.
Spend time doing things you enjoy (and genuinely enjoy, not what someone else says you should do).
Take some time out.
and ffs comparing your life to the highlights reel isn’t necessary, and it will only weigh you down.
We are all human.
Perfect doesn’t exist.
Here’s to the real reel.
