The 8th Amendment
I think everyone could agree that The 8th Amendment is such a sensitive topic to be debated and voted on. Tomorrow, I will be voting in the referendum. Months ago I was hesitant to vote and was very undecided which to vote on but after doing my own research in both sides which I suggest everyone should especially if you’re undecided... Voting Yes would be so much more beneficial not only to the Yes Party but to all the women in Ireland. There are so much more reasons why I chose yes... But Why can’t we trust women with their decisions? It’s their own body, not yours nor the governments. Let me ask you, Why is a rapist given less punishment than to a woman who seeks abortion? Why does the victim of rape suddenly become the murderer? Why wouldn’t a mother be allowed to choose abortion when the baby could already be dying inside of her? Why wouldn’t any woman be allowed to get aborted if it’s risking her life for health reasons? The 8th Amendment has caused grave harm to many women in Ireland, including death. Abortion will in no means be used as a form of contraception. Women will be given the care and the counseling they deserve in a much more safer environment. I am a man and the result does not affect me greatly but it does to half the population in Ireland. You have a sister, a daughter, a friend that needs your support. Give these women the rights they deserve. Give these women the right to choose. Vote Yes.
