Loving this protein and antioxidant rich breakfast.......with a side of Cuban cafesito, of course 😉
I love waking up early Saturday mornings, start doing my weekend laundry, and having breakfast before anyone else wakes up. Gets me into my mindfulness moment where I get to write in my journal about whatever pops into my head. Today, something resonated with me that started with my daughter yesterday. She’s upset she’s getting a high B in math 😏 She’s always been a straight A, gifted student without putting in much effort - needless to say she’s an overachiever and a perfectionist. She just started middle school in a challenging, yet wonderful environment and has a very difficult math teacher and class. When she told me about this dreaded “B” - I asked her “Are you doing your very best? Are you going to class, listening, doing HW and doing all you can?” She said - “Yes, I’m trying harder than ever.” So then I told her “Then that’s perfectly fine.” In life, not only in math class, you have to always know deep down inside you’re doing your best. Give it all you got, leave it all out there, and forget the rest. If there is an ounce of doubt in you, that you can do better, don’t beat yourself up about it. Go back, do better, and forget the rest. It’s not about beating yourself up about it - it’s about learning along the way. I am extremely proud of her and this “B” grade because I’ll be proud of her no matter what and a “B” is still amazing - but I just want her to learn early in life that there’s no use in stressing things when you know you’ve given it your all. That’s what life is all about - whether you’re a student, a mom, a business owner, in your job - do your best and forget the rest - then go out there and enjoy every wonderful second this life has to offer. 🌟 #happysaturday

Last week was homecoming/ dress up week and the county fair was in town. Instead of fighting the craziness my theme of the week was to embrace it! I only took pictures of the first two days 🤪Everyday the kids were excited to come to math to see what we were going to do! #middleschoolteacher#middleschoolmath
Obsessed with yesterday's inquiry portion in the Hyperdoc. it was fun to see students working at their own pace, at different times, and in their own comfort zone.
For people who have never seen our classroom before in action, it's crazy and chaotic and hard to understand. But children get to move around to different areas for different activities or lounge where they are comfortable, go to the teacher conference table.
Dont get me wrong, students slack and talk. Accountability is key in this style of teaching. It takes them time to understand time management and self discipline.... still working on it... lol.
We learned how to “speed date” today (disclaimer: NO dating was actually done in the classroom) 😅 One student from each table group became an expert at a math problem. When the doorbell sounds the students transitioned to a new table. When the doorbell sounds again, the students should be at their new teacher/experts table and learning how to solve a different type of problem. We used this as a review method to recap before our test tomorrow.
I loved flipping the script and letting the STUDENTS teach each other. My philosophy: If you can teach it-you know it 💜 #thisislhr#middleschoolmath#7thgrade#doorbell#classroomanagement

After years of taking notes and years of teaching, I have managed to make teachers notes that not only I can read, but I can make copies of for special ed teachers and for students.
I am so impressed with myself. This taking so long really spells out why I moved to middle school. Messy handwriting.
The skinny markers I requested at the beginning of the year are truly get their use by my students!
Heading into my final week of the school year - WHAAAT?!? 😳 It’s kinda hard to believe how quickly this year flew by! I made these surveys to help my kiddos reflect on their year and to get some valuable feedback about their experience in my classroom. Can’t wait to read what they write! These are in my TPT store if you’re interested! #teacherspayteachers#tpt#teachersofinstagram#endoftheschoolyear#endoftheyear
