Loving my oceanside breakfast conversations with Omi this week. ☕️🕶 She’s graceful but stands her ground. 💪🏻 She’s sweet with a side of sass. 😜 She’s full of history (lived in WWII Germany) yet is accepting of modern ideas (she has several gay friends). ✌🏻 She was married to my grandpa for 54 years and rejects multiple suitors (seriously, she’s still got it!) because she “already had the best.” 💍 She’s a multifaceted woman and I hope to be ¼ of what she is some day. ❤️
All kinds of yummy in the tummy. Chef Simeon @chefwonder and the team at @tinroofmaui always has that Good Good! We love to grab a bite to eat here when we're in Kahului and some of our favorites include the Poke Bowl of the Day, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Ulu Mac Salad and the Mochiko Chicken (pictured). Definitely check out their daily specials and order ahead to avoid the lunch crowd. Tin Roof offers ono food that make great picnic foods.
The silversword, an endangered species, is found to naturally grow only on the slopes of Haleakalā. Some of them have been found to live up to 90 years. They have a long lifecycle and bloom only once - at the end of their life - then they die. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have been able to bear witness to a blooming silversword- a rare occurrence indeed.
Along the road to Hana is Wai’anapanapa state park. A very unique place consisting of a black sand beach, a seabird colony, natural stone arches, ancient lava caves, hidden blowholes and salt water pools, this is a must see stop along the Road To Hana🤙
