This time of year is horrible for lighting to take hair photos 😩 Such a struggle right? I took this photo with my iPhone, my ring light, against a white wall.
🖤Here are some lighting tips that have helped me!
•Make sure your background is clean! Whether it be a white wall, black wall, textured wall, you want it to be aesthetically pleasing! Try to make sure there aren’t random objects, products and clutter in the background.
•I just have a regular ring light that I bought off of amazon. I position it slightly away from the head so that it lights up all the hair. If you have it too close, it can make the top or ends appear darker.
•Take notice of your overhead lighting! If the lights in the ceiling above you are warm, it can cause the hair to appear warmer!
•My favorite editing app is facetune! No, not to edit the hair! However, it is a great tool to use for a few things. If you don’t have a clutter free background to take your photo, you can blur the background around the hair! It’s also great to use to whiten your background(if using a white backdrop) to whiten out any shadows!
•Make sure your clients shirt isn’t too bright or wild! If you take photos with your phone, the shirt can throw off the haircolor because the phone will focus on the shirt!
