An excellent question for Suzanne... here is some of her reply!
J , I know how you feel, Mum guilt, it can be an absolute mine field! I think as a Mum it's important to know, accept and realise that mum guilt is going to be there and that you are not alone in this feeling & you know what, that's OK.
If we look at the other things you mention too you have guilt over your own state of health, you are unhappy and don't feel physically fit or strong, I would suspect that you may even be feeling a little stressed and your resilience may be a little low too. Your tiredness will impact your ability to spend quality time with your children and do the other things as a mum we tend to do, all in all adding to these feelings of guilt.
Ask yourself this question. Why does it matter to you, your children, your partner, your colleagues, your friends...why does it matter to all those people if you are unhappy, if your self confidence is low, if your self esteem is low, if you find it hard sometimes to manage stress or stressful times? Why does it matter to all these people if you are physically well or unwell?
Make a list, on paper of all the reasons why these things matter or impact yourself and others.
When you do this task you will realise that the guilt will always be there, you are a mum. But the impacts of not making the changes you need are far worse than a little guilt and the benefits impact so many people! It will help you make the changes you need... DM us if you have a health or wellness question for Suzanne.
THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE SOOOO GOOD! Our tribe on Facebook already knows what or rather who we've interviewed. It's not to be missed if you ever wandered about the health benefits when you change your diet, and go whole food plant based. We think our guest will inspire you to what is possible when you take back control of your own health!! 🌱

Second batch of Yogisattva graduates who just finished a 5 day whole foods plant based culinary course. Thank you to everyone who made the time to come and be part of this. I had one client who had flown especially for the course all the way from Chennai! I am proud of each one of you and so happy that we shared this experience together. Teaching really fuels my passion in this field everyday. I feel blessed to have the ability to empower people with the tools they need to live a healthier and more nourishing life. There are days when I constantly ask myself if what I’m doing is of any value. There are days when the comments on social media are relentless and the non stop bullying does bring me down, but I put on some music and just cook because that’s my meditation. I absolutely love what I do and that’s what keeps me going. Remembering my purpose keeps me motivated. Thank you @palakpanchal for being so amazing at your job - don’t know how the days go by with you around. Thank you Universe for giving me the opportunity to live and share this life. Gratitude always. #plantbasedchef#yogisattvagraudates#thankyouuniverse#gratitude
The pain associated with sinusitis can be excruciating. Before I discovered essential oils, I had many a course of antibiotics prescribed to help fight this nasty bacterial infection.
Halfway through this week I woke-up with that familiar feeling - pressure above my eyes, aching face, headache... 😨
Cedarwood, Easy Air (Breathe) and Douglas Fir are my go-to replacements for antibiotics these days. .
(Now for the scientific bit... ☺️)
Thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of the sesquiterpene ketones present in Cedarwood essential oil, it has a mucolytic effect on mucous membranes, whilst the sesquiterpene alcohols do their bit to help relieve sinus congestion by acting as mucous membranes decongestants. .
In Chinese Traditional Medicine, Cedarwood has been studied for its potential to increase energy in the kidneys, spleen and pancreas - an important factor in supporting recovery from issues such as sinusitis. From a Chinese Medicine viewpoint, such inflammatory responses in the body may in fact reflect an underlying malfunction of the digestive system and disturbance of Spleen Qi (energy flow), with subsequent accumulation of damp and phlegm... .
A good reminder that gut health is king 👸

This month I set out with the intention of looking after myself, nourishing and caring my body but for all my good intentions my body has been kicking off big time. •
Veganuary's been a failure, with my body malnourished, dry Jan being taken very literally with my body dehydrated, break outs when I use face masks, dry skin when I don't and now sores/ulcers got me making doctor visits & feeling proper Quasimodo'd. •
For all my good intents, perhaps I should have let well enough alone... 😅 •
Blog post on Veganuary coming soon! 🤦🏽♀️ 12monthsofsimpleliving.wordpress.com/veganuary
Sunday Mornings are for #lattemacchiato in bed☕️👌🏼

Today was open garden day! Relieved that it’s all over but it was a thoroughly enjoyable day showing other passionate and aspiring gardeners our little garden. Thanks for coming everyone 💚and thanks to @clairecyrilla for her help and @3000acres and @opengardensvictoria for helping to organise it all.
You do not need to anything crazy 🤪 when it comes to a “calorie deficit”. Small changes add up plus it does not mean eating less and restricting yourself. It may not even require counting calories which should BE THE ULTIMATE GOAL, essentially caring less about numbers and more about HOW YOU FEEL on the inside
Love these ideas by @meowmeix.
While no one meal will make you gain or lose weight, your meals and snacks for the day all together will add up to hit your target goals.
As a reminder, for fat loss you need to be in a sustainable caloric deficit. For muscle gain, you need to be in a caloric surplus.
While that exact caloric number will be different for everyone, here are some examples to help you reach your goals.
As you can see for the weight loss meals, they’re not devoid of all complex carbs. While at dinner, I skipped the rice for cauliflower rice, at lunch, I still included the full sweet potato and just skipped the toppings that were in the muscle gain meal.
Additionally, I made sure I had plenty of healthy fats in the weight loss meals but still had a smaller portion than in the muscle gain meals.
More info below:
Breakfast fat loss - 2 eggs + 2 egg whites, 1/4 avocado, 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes + 1/4 cup mushrooms + 1/4 cup asparagus sautéed + 1 piece Ezekiel toast.
Breakfast muscle gain - Added 2 eggs, + 1/4 avocado, + 1 tbsp pb.
Lunch fat loss - 4oz chicken, 1 sweet potato, 1 cup broccoli.
Lunch muscle gain - Added 2oz chicken, added 1 banana + 1 tbsp pb.
Dinner fat loss - 4oz wild salmon, 1 cup cauliflower rice, 1 cup mushrooms + 1 cup kale sautéed in 1 tsp olive oil.
Dinner muscle gain - Added 2oz salmon, subbed in 1 cup rice for 1 cup cauliflower.
Snack fat loss - 1 cup strawberries + 25g chocolate
Snack muscle gain - 1 cup strawberries + 1 medium banana + 45g chocolate

*SPOTLIGHT EFFECT & GYM ANXIETY*⠀
Do you feel uncomfortable in the gym? Do you assume people are judging your form, what you’re wearing, or your routine in general? Let me introduce you to the "spotlight effect"⠀
Basically, it is the result of egocentrism. We all are the center of our own universes. This is not to say we are arrogant, or value ourselves more than others, but rather, that our entire existence is from our own experiences and perspective. And we use those experiences to evaluate the world around us, including other people. ⠀
Next time you walk into ANY social setting, REMEMBER THIS: The people you assume are judging you are the center of their own universes too, and in turn, are focused on other things. ⠀

CHICKEN WITH PARMESAN CAULIFLOWER RICE💪🏼😍 ~
2 large boneless and skinless chicken breasts halved horizontally to make 4
1/2 cup fresh Parmesan, finely grated
Salt and fresh cracked pepper
2 large cloves garlic, grated
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
For the cauliflower rice
3 cups riced cauliflower (about 1 medium head)
1/2 cup white onion, chopped
2 large cloves garlic minced
2 tablespoons vegetable stock
Juice of one lemon (+ zest, if you like)
Red chili pepper flakes, optional
1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
In a shallow plate, combine parmesan cheese, grated garlic, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Season the chicken with salt and pepper; dredge in the parmesan mixture; shake off excess and set aside.
2. In a large skillet melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until golden on each side and cooked through – about 3-4 minutes for each side, depending on the thickness of your chicken. Transfer to a plate.
The cauliflower rice
1. In the same pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Fry the garlic and onion for 1 minute until fragrant — be careful not to burn.
2. Add the riced cauliflower to the skillet and stir to mix everything together well and coat in melted butter. Cook, stirring regularly for 1 minute.
3. Stir in the 2 tablespoons vegetable stock, about half the parsley, and lemon zest (if using). Cook for one minute to reduce juices then add the lemon juice and a few sprinkles of leftover parmesan cheese, if you like.
4. Adjust seasoning as needed. Stir in the remaining parsley. Return chicken over cauliflower rice and reheat quickly. Serve with fresh cracked black pepper, red chili pepper flakes, and more parmesan. Enjoy!
