To my Dad: 1. Before I could write, he transcribed. 2. Pick one, he said, and see it through. (I was always dictating a series of half-stories without endings.) 3. He never complained when I asked “why?” I liked where the “why” led but mostly I liked where the “why” inside the “why” inside the “why” led. He always answered. 4. My dad worked nights, my mom works days. That way I never spent a single hour in daycare. Sometimes, I accompanied him to the break room at his office, toting around a suitcase filled with dissheveled, barefoot Barbies (again, I only cared about their storylines). There, grown-ups interrupted to chat. Always have a conversation, he said “and make them feel special.” 5. He also instructed me (a naturally shy child) to make direct eye contact. (I loved to talk, but struggled to look people in the eye while I did so, having thousands of conversations with the upper-most corner of rooms.) People trust people who look them in the eye, he said. But it’s an intimate thing, so be sure you earn that trust: there is no greater gift than to be trusted. 6. In later years we talked seriously about careers — never: you should do X or you have to make $Y. The conversations always had a way of coming about over bacon-egg biscuits, hash browns and *at least one* cinnamon bun. “Do something you love,” he told me because I’d spend so much of my life doing it. We had that same conversation before I left for New York. 7. We had one more conversation before I left. We were in the front yard, and my dad put his arms in front of his face. “Hit me,” he said, and when I looked confused, again: “Hit me.” Before I could go, I had to fight him, he said. I had to make it hurt. I had to know how to protect myself. Thank you, Dad, for writing for me before I could write; for teaching me an incredible work ethic by example and by word; for never tiring of my questions; for helping me better treat, understand and relate to others; and for showing me how to fight: for myself, for others and for my career. But mostly, thank you for always picking up the pieces when I just couldn’t and for always backing me with a killer right-hook.
A godly man has a heart for god. God doesn’t expect perfection but is very interested in our direction. 👏🏻
Happy Father’s Day to this perfectly imperfect man of mine whom leads us towards a happy & loving home! He’s completely selfless & goes beyond my expectations daily. So elated to grow old with him. 👴🏻👵🏼

Boy, was I NAIVE. When I first launched my business in late 2016, I had a few years of social media and content marketing under my belt. I felt extremely confident in my ability to market myself online.
What I didn’t realize was how many mindshifts needed to happen in order for me to feel comfortable pushing my services on social media. And it felt just like that in the beginning. Pushing. Forcing. Annoying. Struggling. Begging.
But after a few key changes, I was able to get out of my own way and finally market myself comfortably and successfully on Instagram. I stopped feeling spammy and started feeling helpful and encouraging.
And my income matched that shift. My income tripled in a few months after implementing my strategies. And in July of last year, I had my first $10k month! This was when my following was less than 1500!
I’m sharing the changes I made on my Instagram in my webinar, and the replay is expiring TONIGHT. Watch it now, link in bio! #Createcultivate#blogsociety#societygal#theeverygirl#creativityfound#pursuepretty#flashesofdelight#thatsdarling#livecolorfully#darlingmovement#thehappynow#abmhappylife

💭 Thought of the day 💭 I’ve realised something that I really struggle with on a day to day basis is TRANSITIONS. What I mean by this is that I waste a lot of time between activities such as work and if I had quicker transitions I know I would save a lot of time. I guess it’s a kind of procrastination and hopefully now I’ve identified it I can work to improving it so I become more productive. 🕓

Found these fascinating little flowers while walking the loop trail at Comox Dam. Can anyone identify them for me?
Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there!
My own daddy is responsible for my love of birds and watching them. He’s always shown a loving wonder at their complexities and a joy in observing both their habits and their songs.
In keeping a phenology wheel, I find I’m often reminded of dear people and their incredible influence on how I experience nature and the memories are simply wonderful.
How does keeping bring you joy, friend?
Happy Father’s Day to my amazing husband and dad to our two kids... which are more like young adults!😉
You have made such a positive impact in our lives- you’ve encouraged, loved and always been there for us! We are incredibly blessed! #maryrossidesigns

I’ve known Tyler for more than 10 years now, and by FAR my favorite thing has been seeing him as a dad. He is the actual best (and I always knew he would be). He’s patient and fun and adventurous. He does things like staying up an extra hour after he’s worked night shift so he can cuddle with Clay (and so I can get some extra zzz’s). There truly is nothing he loves more than his son. I love being his partner and walking this crazy parenting journey together. Happy Father’s Day! 💛 (📷: @chloeannheckman)

How my dad will say “I love you” like a true Asian dad. Usually asked at the most random hours over WA or the first question when we met in person! Took me to all my favorite Indonesian food places whenever I’m back home and always thinks I’m too skinny 🤣🤣🤣 I love him ☺️ Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing fathers out there!! Written with @winsorandnewton gouache ink, on Arpa handmade paper, with EF66 bibs and oblique pen holder. Nibs and pen holders can be purchased at @johnnealbookseller and @paperandinkarts. Laser with clipboard contraption is called slider writer. Unfortunately, it has long been discontinued and no longer available for purchase.
I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for this man. Thank you, dad!

There's so much wisdom in nature.⠀⠀
The innate wisdom.⠀⠀
We've found tuning into this and trusting life is so important.⠀⠀
Nature knows when to grow and when to slow.⠀⠀
It doesn’t try to plant seeds in winter, but waits for the spring.⠀⠀
It rests, relaxes, prepares, holds the energy in, it goes INWARD.⠀⠀
Then in Spring and Summer it puts all the effort into growing, shining, expanding, dancing.⠀⠀
In a very masculine 'do it now' world 24/7, the beauty of patience, timing and attraction have been somewhat lost. ⠀⠀
It’s so beautiful we are now coming into a new age where people are seeing things can be done in a more natural way.⠀⠀
That is why we chose the Align + Free archetypes of moss, algae, fern, pine and magnolia as they mimic nature in all her glory.⠀⠀
It’s one thing to know it, and another to embody it which is why our core Practices are there for you in the Collective to revisit for a ‘booster’ to maintain your frequency. ⠀⠀
In one of our upcoming MasterClasses we’ll focus on the importance of seasonal living, we’d love to have you join us.⠀⠀

"My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me." -- Jim Valvano
Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads who always believe in us and love us unconditionally! We hope you have the most amazing day filled with loved ones and your favorite things.
I was talking about life the other day with my friend, and found myself not finding anything to be able to complain about. I say find, because in the instant gratification and highlight reel-filled world that we currently live in, it’s so easy to find SOMETHING to pick at to feel as if it has to be improved. Yes, I would love more money (who wouldn’t), and I’d love to be back in my own place sooner than what is possible, but other that that, life is alright 🥰 I am lucky that I live the life that I lead, see the places that I see, and man, I am the luckiest with the people that I get to share my life with ♥️

Happy Father’s Day to the guy who asked that we not celebrate him today so that we could celebrate others instead. 😭 He is the one who blows up the pool and water slides day after day, builds Legos and wrestles after a long day of work, reads the Bible with the boys before bed and makes time, even when there isn’t any. ⠀
Thank you for selflessly leading our boys with compassion, integrity and godliness. Your character is unmatched and a gift to our family; we would be lost without you! We love you! 🥰 ⠀
P.S. We have a conversational podcast episode with just Jesse and me coming out SOON about our marriage and I can’t wait for you guys to hear it! 😍 All I have to say is that he’s a trooper. 😂 Please join me in wishing him a happy father’s day! 👇🏼 I want him to feel alllll the love. 😊🖤

There’s a rush in creating something for the first time. But then, the work sets in when you’re lucky enough to be tasked with recreating it over and over again. That’s when you really figure out how to make a thing: the high is gone and it’s just you trying to do better than before. I’m proud of how far these little whales have traveled (in design, but also in the world). And I’m sad that with each opportunity I have to recreate one, the condition of actual whales is getting more and more grim.
Happy Father’s day! 💛 —————————————————
Thank you for always being supportive and being a great grand-dad to Ayden. —————————————————

Dreamy summer scents in the form of Santal 33 and Verveine 32; better believe I’ll be spraying and burning these two non stop for the next few months 🌾☁️ Also featuring my camera today as I finally took it out yesterday to a beautiful rose garden— one of the things I love about film is the anticipation of waiting to see how the pictures come out ✨ I hope you’ve been having a lovely weekend friends!

One of the most beautiful day trips you can take from Paris is to Vaux-le-Vicomte, a château so sumptuous that thé then king of France (Louis XIV) confiscated it for himself and threw the original owner in prison for life. 👑
