Anubis is getting close to complete! This is the version I will use for prints and possible animation in future. As you may know, Anubis is the Egyptian deity most closely associated with death, embalming, and passage to the afterlife. It is Anubis who cares for the dead, guiding them in their crossing over and protecting them. The Greeks likened him to their Hermes, the messenger to the gods, as a similar go-between role.
He has the head of a jackal, actually an Egyptian wolf. My rendition of him was part channeled in how I see him, conveying a deeply conscious, steady and true being.
This has been a very trying week for me and my family with the sudden death of my cousin last weekend. As I have a personal relationship with Anubis (more on that later), I called on him to help with my cousins soul, and he answered. I will share more about that in my next update on this art, because I need to add more relevant hieroglyphs.
I have been nourishing and supporting the heavy hearts around me as well as I, including my own, and learning a lot. I am grateful and understanding and for the timing of my reconnection to the caretaker of loved ones crossed. Wolf moon eclipse coming. 💜
