I get to experience teenagers for 16 years strait! They aren’t perfect all the time, it’s part of the tension of them going from kid to adult before our eyes. But they are clever and funny, insightful, thoughtful and fun! I love seeing the world through their eyes. See also: sisters make the best of friends! Also also: we had ice cream sandwiches today on #millave at a place called @slickables and oh man were they ever good!
Life with kids sure is a roller coaster!
Going back to my post last week, when I was beside myself thinking I was such a bad Mamma because my toddler Amelia was hitting our baby Lilah to get my attention- Today (and most other days to be honest) I am the proudest Mamma ever, of what an amazing little girl Amelia is! .
Today Amelia was sitting with Lilah in the lounge room while I got the dishes packed away. I came in to check on them and I had happy tears from what I was seeing, miss Amelia stepping up into the big sister role, "reading" Lilah a story. Now for a three year old (only 2 & 4mths when Lilah was born), I think she is doing an amazing job of being a big sister. Sure we have have our "moments" but I need to keep things in perspective and remember these precious days like today!
It must be incredibly tough for such a little person to come to terms with the fact that they now have to share Mamma with somebody else, when their younger sibling comes along. I dont think any amount of preparation can really prepare them. Especially when you are as close as Amelia and I are, we barely leave each others sides, I work from home so she doesn't even have my work to compete with, we co-slept, she comes to all my appointments & came to all our pregnancy appointments (& there were a lot of those), she did attend day care one day a week for a year, but I was so anxious to leave her a full day, till only a couple of months before Lilah came along- (despite having the most amazing family day care teacher). I would pick her up after only 4 hours, or as soon as I was done with clients for the day. .
She had never spent a night away from me and still hasn't to this day (apart from the one night when I had Lilah as I wasnt allowed to leave the hospital). So of course having to share me was going to be a transition. And once again I think she is doing pretty well!
My girls you both make me so happy to be your Mamma's! .
Keep on shinning babies! 🌟
I Can’t wait to see their relationship grow as they both get older ❤️
I had the best weekend ever with my sister in Boston. How did I end up in Boston? This is how the conversation went:
Friday Night at 5:40PM
My sister: What are you doing this weekend?
Me: I don’t have set plans for this weekend but was asked to attend Clark Atlanta’s homecoming and the Falcons tailgate on Sunday.
My sister: Ok great. I’m booking you a flight for 7:40PM tonight. Do you think you can make it?
Me: 😆😂🤣. Let me see (If you know me well and you know my dog, a hour to 2 hour turnaround was not happening). 😂
My sister: OK… Well get on the flight at 6AM in the morning.
Me: 4AM wake up... no problem ...can’t wait to see you. 😊😘 I had the best time with my sister in Boston. I did miss my brother-in-law since he was out of the country.
Upon my arrival I knew my sister was going to have me to attend one of her many high cardio workout classes so I wore my workout gear to bed the night of my flight and on the plane 😆. During my visit in Boston, we went to various restaurants including Bistro du Midi and Tretro. We had some deep discussions about life while listening to jazz. I attended one of her talks pertaining to Obesity Medicine and participated in the Q&A at the conclusion of the talk. I even caught a cold 🤧 (ie. the photo of the beverage on the plane, keeping in mind I do not like juice). Could not go to work today 🤦🏾♀️. There is nothing like coming from a family that is full of love ❤️. I am so thankful for my big sister. I love you, Tima.
It's OCTOBER! ⠀
For me, October used to mean sweaters & boots 👢, Halloween costume planning 👻, sipping hot drinks from oversized mugs ☕️, and breathing in all the deep, beautiful colors 🍁.⠀
I still get excited about all these things, but now October means something special to my heart – Down Syndrome Awareness 🦋💛⠀
I talk a lot about my experiences of being a mother of a child with Down syndrome so this year I've decided to change things up. I've rounded up our family members to share ⠀
what they've learned, how their perspective on life has changed & their favorite things about Kara.⠀
I am excited to share all the facts, feelings, resources & LOVE that my family wants to pass on.⠀
I’m also excited because once their responses started rolling in, I noticed that each one associated with a different movement in the Down syndrome community so keep an eye out for commonly used #hashtags!⠀
Follow along for a new perspective & hashtag everyday this month! 🍋⠀

And today... let me tell you about this girl. Sienna Mack is such a huge chunk of my heart 💜 💜 ... her fav color is purple (obv)... she is a talented ballerina or soccer player depending on the day. This kid dreams bigger than anyone I know! She’s also quite the entrepreneur... selling just about anything to our poor, unsuspecting neighbors (bless their hearts 🙏🏼)... and is always game planning her next endeavor. Sienna is super creative, wears jackets on hot days to “tie around her waste for style” and is the best big sis around. When she’s not tearing apart a soccer field or elegantly dancing, she’s my wing man on coffee dates and walking the mall. 👯♀️
Today, a part of her homework, was to create a timeline in chronological order of exciting events in her life. We quickly agreed on 4 and when I asked her to pick ONE more she thought for a second and then enthusiastically said “I once had some Doritos!” 😂👍🏼... she’s definitely my girl! 💜😂
My 💜 is so full. These guys are my WHY!
