#1empty1newbie is here! I love @kravebeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser, but it's out of stock everywhere and it's kinda hard to get your hands on if you live outside SK and US. So after watching best of 2018 beauty by @beautyclouduna I found this @drjart cleanser that matched my requirements
I've only tried it once, like an hour ago, and. it's a clear transparent thick gel which foams up beautifully (I LOVE foam, sadly better foam means higher pH usually) and does not dry out my skin. It also has a slight citrusy scent to it thus reminding me Innisfree Blueberry 5.5 Cleanser which is also a low pH foam and smells citrusy
So far I can only say that Dr. Jart beats Purito Defence Barrier Cleanser which is super drying and not very comfortable to use
Full review coming soon!

#1empty1newbie#empties : #alphah absolute eye complex with cucumber & Vitamin B5. This is a refreshing non-greasy eye gel and it contains a lot of soothing, hydrating ingredients (eg. B5, HA, glycerin, cucumber, niacinamide etc). However, it also contains alcohol. For INCI list see pic 2, highlighted. I’m blessed with quite normal skin and the skin around my eyes are not sensitised because of the alcohol. But my eyes can feel the alcohol every time I apply it, despite the fact that it’s not on top of the INCI list . The reason why alcohol can provide a refreshing feeling is because it tends to evaporate, and thus take the heat away. My ideal eye product is something that makes my eyes don’t feel anything, and the skin around my eyes hydrated. However, if alpha h turn this one to a face cream, I’m all for it 😆
Newbie: #larocheposay#toleriane#ultracontour 20ml. I also use it as face cream at night. I’ve only used it for twice and I already love it. The texture is like a serum, but a moisturising and soothing one. It’s like a lightweight version of my HG cicapair Dr Jart cream. Also the packaging is very hygienic 👍

Trading my thick blackberry moisturizer that I used at night for a lighter gel-cream one!

Doing an inventory of the products I currently have on my stash (and taking note of their expiration dates) truly made it easier for me to choose which products to use 1st.
My current 2nd cleanser, which is the @heimish_korea All Clean Green Foam, is running low so I decided to open the @23yearsold_global Black Paint Rubar.
I do suffer from blackheads (particularly on my nose) so I'm thrilled to see the efficacy of this cleanser. Plus, it's my 1st time to use a stick cleanser so that's exciting. 😁😁😁
As for the Heimish one, I did enjoy it like most low pH cleansers I use. It cleans the face without drying it out. This one has a glue like scent (typical for a fragrance free product) which I didn't like but also didn't bother me much. It comes in a thick gel which doesn't foam a lot. Would I repurchase? Maybe...but there's so many I still want to try.
Please recommend me your fave cleansers in the comment below! 🙏🙏🙏 I would really appreciate it.

Get to know more about our Pure Glow Serum from one of our clients. 😍🌿 #Repost@raffy.skinlog with @get_repost
My first #1empty1newbie for the year!
❄️ Last week I finished up my trusty @vnmnaturals Pure Glow Serum Primer. Good thing I bought my backup during their BOGO sale (but i ended up giving the other one to my friend).
❄️ This has made numerous appearance in my feed. I actually never religiously used primers before until I got this. It’s a nice beige color that’s easily absorbed by my skin. I like the fact that it helps control my oiliness, esp. helpful in controlling the oiliness of the 2 sunscreens I apple after. I can definitely feel it moisturizes my skin well too, though it doesn’t really cover up my pores. Despite this, I always see myself reaching for this every morning & my skin would always take notice if I forget to apply this. One pump is also enough to cover my whole face. I was initially out off by the smell cause it smells like wood but the scent grew on me after a while.
❄️ I also wanna commend the packaging. This serum goodness comes in a 30ml bottle BUT I’ve been using this everyday since August & it lasted me for a good 5 months. I think it lasted me for a good amount of time because it came in an airless pump container. I always enjoy products that come in these containers because you are definitely getting your money’s worth cause it will make sure that you get to use until the very last drop of the product.
❄️ To know how much of the product you are using, I recommend looking at the bottom of the bottle (swipe for example). You’ll notice that you still get to see the product on a fuller bottle (right bottle).
One empty, one newbie. ✌🏼✨
@juicebeauty Organic Trearment Oil: done! Texture of this oil was rich, yet had lots of glide. It’s a base of sunflower, olive oil, and borage (richly hydrating), and features some interesting extracts like cranberry, chamomile, and calendula (soothing). It does contain a few EOs and had a notable but not offensive smell. I liked it, but I wouldn’t repurchase again. It really sat on top of my skin more than I’d like (usually my dry AF skin soaks this kinda thing up 🤔).
@indie_lee NEW Daily Vitamin Infusion. The name is weird. Sounds like a serum. It’s a treatment oil. Features some kick-ass ingredients like squalane, rosehip oil, and avocado oil, as well as vitamin c and ceramides. 🤤 I found with my first couple uses I could use 4-6 drops and it glides over skin and absorbs beautifully! This is ideal for dry skin needing repair and soothing. There are no EOs in this either: Win!
💧 #fuzzy1empty1newbie ONE EMPTY, ONE NEWBIE💧.
I'm noticing a majority of my products are white, clear, or translucent. It doesn't really stand out on a white background, does it 😂?
I've emptied one of my staple essences, #235nskincare Rice Soothing Active+ Essence. It's a simple, scentless, soothing, clear essence that doesn't sting when my skin is irritated & sore due to allergies. I have 1 bottle left, which I intend to open in the spring for hay fever season, but for the winter I want something more hydrating & moisturizing.
I opened up my bottle of #imfrom Rice Toner, which peaked my interest when word on the street mentioned it had no fragrance or smell. I've struggled with I'm From Masks for various reasons, but decided to give the toner a go because it was rice based, scent free, & possibly an emollient toner.
The toner separates into two layers, and needs a good shake before you use it. The shaken colour should be an almost opaque milk, & is watery in texture.
Performance wise, it bears a lot of resemblance to the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner. It gives a dense dose of both hydration & moisturizing, however it's not as rich as Laneige. It might be easier to work into a routine if you're looking for that extra emollient boost in your winter routine.
Since I've only been using it for a week, I can't speak much to any additional benefits the Rice Toner can provide. I get a bit of redness reduction, but it's often hard to tell if it's truly the product or something else in my routine. I will post a comparison with the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner once I've used the Rice Toner long enough.
Have you tried the I'm From Rice Toner? If you have, what are your thoughts? Have you tried the Mugwort Essence? I've purchased a bottle for the upcoming allergy season and am hoping for good things.

One of my all time favourite products ever!!!!
#1empty1newbie of my go to SPF by @avene_uki@aveneusa 😍
I absolutely adore this SPF recommended to me by @roaccstagram ages ago, and now I won't use anything else!
It dries down matte, non comedogenic (and it hasn't ever broken me out!) has the slightest white cast if not rubbed in properly, sits beautifully under make up! I even use it if I'm applying make up at night because it leaves my skin in such good condition for wearing make up! 👍
I've tried other SPFs but nothing comes close to the silky feeling this leaves on my skin.
I tend to buy it from @bootsuk as its usually on offer too 🎉
One Empty One Newbie #1empty1newbie as hosted by @skinminimalist 👍. Empty is Ling Oxygen Plasma Potion which contains ‘Perfluorodecalin’....I’ve been doing a bit of investigating on what this is especially in skincare with conflicting results! The second slide is from @thebeautybrains2018 (Perry Romanowski who is a cosmetic chemist) talking about Perfluorodcalin and its use in skincare. Perfluorodecalin dissolves oxygen and has had results in the medical arena but no studies have been found on this in skincare that I can find (if there has been please let me know). ‘Conversely too much oxygen can enhance the number of unstable oxygen molecules which cause free radical damage’ (truthinageing.com). Other companies openly state this is a good ingredient in promoting collagen production! Ok, so I’m not a skincare expert, I’m on the curious consumer spectrum that’s just wants some transparency in claims and ingredients and what they can or can’t do 🤷♀️. For the benefits that I’m after I’m sticking to known ingredients such as vit c, niacinamide etc
That said I like the texture of the Ling plasma potion, it’s light and I could use to mix some other serums in with it with no issues. It gave me a little glow more from its hydrating benefits and I enjoyed using it. The packaging is very sleek!
Newbie is the #zelens z luminous illuminating serum. I’m going to use this mixed in with some aox serums pre spf. Shout if you’ve used this.
I finished for the 3rd time (!) my @heimish_korea All clean Balm. It is natural, Paraben-Free and Hypoallergenic. It goes on as a solid balm, transforms into a silky oil cleanser on the skin then becomes milky while rinsing. It is the best make up remover! It formulated with citrus herb oils to naturally brighten and nourish skin.
Ingredients - Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Polyethylene, PEG-8 Isostearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Freesia Refracta Extract, Iris Versicolor Extract, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Extract, Lilium Tigrinum Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Narcissus Pseudo-Narcissus (Daffodil) Flower Extract, Rose Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Amyris Balsamifera Bark Oil, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Juniperus Mexicana Oil, Boswellia Carterii Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, 1, 2-Hexanediol
Although I feel true love feeling to my Heimish balm, I decided to try something new, so I got the @dear_klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil. It is is formulated with natural oils extracted from black beans, and claims to control sebum production and soothe skin.
Info about the main ingredients -
Black Bean Oil; Black bean helps control the sebum production, increases the skin elasticity. and provides soothing effect
Black Sesame Oil; Black sesame prevents dehydration and skin aging while providing powerful antioxidant effects through various useful components such as Beta-carotene, Rinolenic acid, Sesamin, Sesaminol and Tocopherol.
Black Currant Seed Oil; Black Current Seed Oil strengthens the skin's protective layer to prevent the evaporation of moisture from the skin. It promotes skin cell regeneration and provides antioxidant effects by containing various minerals.
WELL, I'll update you about this one!
Have you tried it? what's your favorite cleansing balm?
#empties: #milbon#hairtreatment (I’ve finished the last one in a set of 4). I use it as a #hairconditioner 💕
#femfresh feminine wash, this is a depot in #muji container. For original packaging see pic 4. Contains sls, didn’t cause any problems but won’t repurchase. 👌
#larocheposay dermo #cleanser 👍 I do love it but I guess I prefer Avene #antirougeurs lotion cleanser better. For this one contains carbomer and I don’t like it’s feeling on face (feels like I haven’t wash off thoroughly)
I’ve also finished the #cancercouncil moisture sunscreen #spf50 💕 (see pic 4), the container for the depot is long gone.
Newbies: I got #sheabutter intensive hydration shampoo and conditioner set at 20% off. Gonna finished my shampoo in one use so why not 😆 I think this brand once appeared in @carolinehirons empties videos.
Also got #summerseve to replace femfresh. This one has no sls but is dyed. There‘re only 3 brands of feminine wash in Sydney Priceline and none of them meet my simple criteria of “no sls/sles, no fragrance no dye” simultaneously 😂But if I have to choose I think the cleansing agent is the most important.
For #facecleanser I got #trilogy age-proof #cleansingcream : I don’t expect a cleanser can be anti-aging, I bought it because I no longer have any full size cleanser and this one is non-foaming, and on 20% discount. (INCI list see pic 3). However, I’m gonna be in Asia for Lunar New Year for a month. So I won’t open this until the end of Feb because it only has 6m shelf life. Instead, I’ll grab the two little #boscia cleanser with me during the trip.
NO. Of empties: 17-20.
Another #1empty1newbie this January! I’m so happy to be finishing up a lot of products this month ☺️ planned to replace this cream with Innisfree’s Jeju Orchid Sleeping Mask but I think I need to incorporate another moisturizer in my night time routine. The Jeju Orchid Enriched Cream gives me enough moisture and I didn’t want another layer of the sleeping mask but the mask alone is not enough.
#1empty1newbie and a few in-betweeners! 🧚🏼♀️✨ Happy #SkincareSunday, beauties. We’re talking retinols today 🙌🏼
This week I polished off @larocheposayusa Redermic Intensif Retinol Treatment. I have had this tube for so long I wonder how potent it still is. It was my first retinol! I started acids shortly after so I’m never sure which has had the bigger impact on my skin, but I can’t say this tube is what started it all (my skincare obsession that is). I started slow and never experienced any issues with this retinol, and loved using it when I was seeing some break outs.
🧚🏼♀️✨In between, I’ve been trying out my samples from @follain. It’s hard to form an opinion of a retinol on just a sample, but the @tataharperskincare Retinoic Face Oil is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a 🌱natural solution. I noticed a few break outs the first time I used it but it may not have been due to the oil. I’ve tried it a second time and I’m definitely intrigued to know whether it would work as well as a standard retinol. I’m going to finish the sample this week.
🧚🏼♀️✨This isn’t a retinol but I just have to rave about another sample from #Follain - the @mahalo.care 🦋Rare Indigo Balm is CHANGING MY LIFE 🦋 This is the first item going on my shopping list when my #nobuy ends in April!! I don’t have terrible acne but I have few stubborn hormonal guys that never seem to go away completely and I swear I’ve seen a drastic improvement since using just this sample!
🧚🏼♀️✨Okay now go return to our regularly scheduled retinol programming - my #newbie that Ive actually already tried and really like is the @skinlaundry Wrinkle Release Repair Treatment. I dug into this tube about a month ago and really love how my skin looks after, I think due to the fact that’s it’s not just a retinol. Perhaps I’ll do a full review in the coming weeks. Has anyone tried this treatment? I really love the tube and the texture is great, it sets right in.
🧚🏼♀️✨That’s all for now from me & my pink bathroom 😊
💧 #fuzzy1empty1newbie ONE EMPTY, ONE REPURCHASE💧.
Every once in a while, I come across a product that I use for a very specific purpose, but it's neither practical nor economical, & I still love it anyway 😂🙈.
The #nursery Yuzu Make Up & UV Cleansing Gel is one of those products. I buy the 500ml pump bottle off of Amazon Japan Global for around $50 CDN after shipping & conversion.
The cleanser is a pale translucent yellow that has a sharp & strong yuzu scent. It smells like freshly squeezed yuzu, & I find it invigorating. I use it only in the shower to wash off waterproof sunscreen on my body & antiperspirant. I find it a tad drying for my face even though my test strips indicate a pH 5.0, but I don't find it drying on body. Nursery has different varieties for different skin types, & the Yuzu type is meant for normal skin types, which is likely why my face doesn't care for it.
Either way, I'm addicted to the scent & repurchased it even though I'm really only using it on my pits 90% of the time 😂.
Have you purchased something meant for general use and only used it on a specific area? Have you tried any Nursery products before? For those who love sakura (Japanese cherry blossom), Nursery had released a Sakura version for normal skin for the spring season 🌸. #skincarejourney#skincare#1empty1newbie#abcommunity#skincarereview#skincareproductreview#asianskincare#asianbeautyproducts#japaneseskincare#japanesebeautyproducts#jbeauty#gelcleanser#nurserycleansinggel

#1empty1newbie Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch
Pimple patches are definitely the hero for those who have acne-prone skin. It helps protect my acne from iritation, bacteria, and my own hands.✋It sticks very well and waterproof too!
I will get insecure if I don't stock it up or when I almost used all of it. So far, this is the most affordable pimple patches I ever use.
What is your holy grail spot treatment?
🌱 #1empty1newbie 🌱
🌷 This finished fast lol ! 𝘽𝙮 𝙒𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙙's Cotton Pads are not bad and I did a review on it which you can find in my feed. It has both gentle and exfoliation sides. They're good actually. Except for the part that the layers move or fall when I rub the cotton on my face. Also, I don't think I'll throw the packaging(?) away...I can use it somehow.
🌷 I never thought I'd try other cotton pads from other brands, so I have the new one from 𝙆𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙡 ! Pretty packaging and color! I've tried 2 so far. It also has one soft side and one harsh side (I guess for exfoliating purpose?) I'll review it soon~
✨ What's your favorite cotton pad? ✨

🌼 Kayman Rosa Glow Treatment Essence.
This essence totally my favorite. Texture dia watery. So kakza apply dia selepas toner.
Oh my god!! That was my expression lepas pakai seminggu. Sebab parut baru fade like totally hilang!! Kulit memang nampak cerahhh.
Even kakza ada je banyak brightening products, but this essence totally macam power gilaaa! My super savior untuk sekata tone kulit, pudarkan parut jerawat. Bila add-on dalam routine, parut memang jadi totally gone! Pergh!
Dari segi hydrating, this is not hydrating essence. So kakza takdelah harapkan dia as my hydrating essence pun.
Bau macam takde bau sangat.
Or maybe hidung kakza tak dapat detect.
Cucumber Extract, Beetox-H, Rose water & arbutin.
Repurchase: Yes. Tapi bukan sekarang hahaha. Kena menabung. Sebab harga macam pricey sikit. Sebab tu kakza nak try Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence nih hehehehe.
Mesra poket sikit 🤣
Kayman Essence nih, kakza decant with friend. Sebab nak try jurr. Tak sangka dia sehebat nih.
Untuk korang yang memang nak cari something brightening products, sila add on Kayman Essence nih dalam stash korang.
Even kakza pakai hat seciput 10ml pun dah rasa ohsem, kalau korang grab hat besar terus, memang lagi la berbaloi kan?
Nacific Essence tuh baru nak try. So jangan tanya dulu camne rasa. Hahahaha.

🗑️ piling up 🗑️ I've gone through a few mini mascaras in the last couple of months. My taste in mascara has changed radically since I was in my 20s... I used to be pretty minimal with my makeup. Powder or powder foundation, metallic gold eyeliner, vampy black mascara, tinted lip balm, done ✔️ But now that I wear more makeup than I used to, I've actually backed away from the fatty volumizing formulas in favor of lighter defining ones ✴️ Not because I worry I'm wearing too much makeup, it's been pretty unconscious. I think I've just become even more picky about formulas and textures than before, and I haven't found a new favorite yet 🤔 Anyway, M. Big is probably something I would have loved 10 or 15 years ago, but it's just too sticky for me now. The others were ok but I wouldn't jump at a full size.

💚💛 #abnewyearstashchallenge days 10, 12 and 15 are all about serums/ampoules, emulsions and oils~ only have one emulsion right now, so im happy i get to keep this category relatively small 😬
#1empty1newbie~ Natural Pacific Fresh Green Tea Seed Serum and Iunik Tea Tree Relief Serum~ i love the nacific one and im sad it’s down to a couple uses, really soothes and calms my skin, makes it clearer too! I have high hopes for the Iunik one!
💙 Human Nature Pollution Defense Hydrating Emulsion~ great for daytime, im not too fond of the scent though
🧡 Natural Pacific Fresh Herb Origin Serum~ this is more like a facial oil to me, and i only need a few drops for my entire face, sometimes i just do toners and this serum and im done! It’s rich and nourishing so this really lasts~ i still have the original bottle, finished a third of it, so determined to empty it this year~ when you have breakouts, texture issues this is great, reminds me of the melano cc tbh
🍯 Iunik Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum~ brightening, plumping and soothing what more can you ask for??
💙Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Balancing Facial Oil~ i often use this before I do makeup, really eliminates all redness and my skin is like velvety butter! So good even if it smells sorta like pesto haha
💚 Pixi Skintreats Rose Oil Blend~ man this is luxe! Love this! Thank you @manilapcgaming 😘 but i think this is better mixed with my creams and moisturizers, a little goes a long way! The effects of this are similar to my Dr. Jart Ceramidin no joke~ so plumping and firming, you really feel it makes your skin healthy within
✨ Huxley Secret of Sahara Oil Essence: Essence Like Oil Like, Grab Water, Brightly Ever After and Oil: Light and More~ watta mouthful but I strongly suggest to try this set first if u wanna dive into Huxley’s cacti wonderland~ tbh I might repurchase grab water and get fullsize of the Oil Light and More~ It’s that good!!
💛 Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid and Serum~ man I fell down deep into the Jart hole hard, i may be late to the party but these things are incredible~ changed my skin texture immediately~ plumping, firming and smoothing! The cream is still my fave though ✨ highly recommend!

Skin update 🍒
Took these photos this morning, 15 days after my 3rd non ablative Fractional Laser session! 🍒
I'm really pleased with how clear my complexion is at the moment - I really think that the sun damage on my forehead has reduced hugely and my skin tone looks quite even! 🍒
I do have some actives but I'm not stressing! 🍒
It's hard not to worry about my scars in certain very unflattering lighting, it makes me feel like there isn't any progress which is ridiculous because its improved so much! Trying to stay positive and happy 🍒
Have also been trying to use up some products that I've only got a tiny bit left of, so will be doing some #1empty1newbie posts this week I think! 🍒

💧 #fuzzy1empty1newbie TWO EMPTY, ONE NEWBIE💧.
I'm at a point right now where I'm emptying several products in quick succession. Natural light is limited & writing has felt exhausting, but I'll have several 1E1N posts over the next week or so.
As for this post, let's talk about cream & milk cleansers. I've been rediscovering them ever since I picked up my staple favourites #leafandbotanics Cleansing Cream Sake and Pure Heals Propolis Cleansing Milk 2 years ago. I still love both, but I go through the L&B sake cleaners so quickly that I'm looking for one slightly more economical & larger in size to alternate with.
I gave the #matsuyamaloft collaboration brand Alternative Gentle Cleansing (gifted by @jollyhatgirl) a go. I was warned that it lost its slip fast, & while it has no fragrance, I noticed it smelled a little bit like Elmer's glue. It washed off cleanly without needing a 2nd cleanser & my skin would feel soft & moisturized. It's a functional, quick cleanser to use if you don't have time to double cleanse, but I want something with more slip.
Last year, Rosette released a new cleanser line called Rice Release. They have a cleansing oil, cleansing liquid (gel), & cleansing milk in the line, all featuring rice-derived ingredients. The cleansing milk is a white, thin cream consistency with no fragrance & surprisingly good slip. It feels similar to Alternative at first, but instead of "drying up", it continued to have slip enough for a cleansing massage. Rosette isn't as slick as L&B but definitely sufficient to massage. It also rinses really cleanly, so if I was lazy enough to not want to use a 2nd cleanser, I could do without 👍🏼.
Rice Release cleansers comes in a 200ml pump bottle & have refills bags. Both @kirei_station & @yesstyle carry the Rice Release line & refills. They've also available on Amazon Japan, but require a forwarding service.
Do you use cleansing creams or milks? If you do, which do you like best?
I was going to do this as a blog post or even an IG live but.....Know that this isn't an attempt to shame anyone for what they choose to spend money on (because people are sensitive AF) but just to put a few things on my mind in a post as I have seen that most people made resolutions to spend less on skincare...(will continue on my stories). When it comes to skincare or anyone trying to build a routine, one of the things they worry about is cost and for good reason too. The myriad of products add up and end up costing money and you want to know where it's best to focus your money on. For me I always set a limit per category...cleansers ....has to be amazing to get $40 (though I bought the VIP O2 once to celebrate) toner...I would say $30 but I use P50 so that is the exception, if it's a hydrating toner... $20 as it's usually rosewater or hyaluronic acid, serums...I can go as high as a $100 which is what I realized late in my skincare journey...while expensive doesn't mean better, I have used some pricey serums that made a huge difference. For things like masks, micellar water, essence, sheet masks which I consider non-essential, I go for the cheapest but effective options....if you use and need vivant ..this is an exception.
Moisturisers... $30 ...sunscreen too (this is why you need to search really well for offers).
So here tips have I found to spend less (from personal experience and others) - unsubscribe from mailing lists
- practice #1Empty1Newbie. .purchases should be replacements for a finished product
- know what your skin needs
- research products and read reviews, ask questions so you are not on to the next best thing every time
- set a spending limit. I have apps and a dedicated card for non-essential expenses
- if all these fail....get off instagram...LOL!
HOW TO MANAGE ROSACEA
The global Rosacea Consensus Panel recommends "general skincare" as a fundamental management strategy and it consists of the holy trinity:
1) Sun protection
2) Gentle skincare
3) Trigger avoidance (see my previous post on Rosacea Triggers)
SUN PROTECTION - SUN PROTECTION - SUN PROTECTION
Exposure to sun is believed to be both an initiating and aggravating factor of rosacea. ☀
And there seems to be a dose-response correlation between sun exposure and rosacea severity: The severity of the erythemato-telangiectatic subtype correlates with the degree of sun exposure.
In other words, the more you're exposed to the sun, the worse your rosacea gets.
UV light sparks inflammation and oxidative stress leading to defects in the tiny blood and lymph vessels in the skin, which is what we see as telangiectasias ("broken" vessels), chronic redness and the swollen skin.
I prefer wearing a hat as much as possible and use inorganic sunscreens (aka physical filters), SPF of 50+ with a tint to knock back my chronic redness 😎
What's your preferred sun protection?
In the next post we'll discuss the second step in the management of rosacea namely "gentle skincare". REFERENCES:

Today's #1empty1newbie features two products containing salicylic acid.
I have finished off the @larocheposay Effaclar K (squeezed out every single drop of it out of the tube, as you can see from it's dishevelled state 😂), and am finally starting the salicylic acid from @deciem The Ordinary. I have wanted to put my hands on it for quite some time now, but every single time I tried to purchase it online, it was out of stock :( Talk about bad luck.
But it's finally here, and frankly, after all the build up and the anticipation, I'm afraid of being disappointed.
What can I say about it so far? It's a transparent, odorless (at least to me) and rather viscous liquid. I can apply it with the dropper to the tips of my fingers and then to my face without it running everywhere. So that's nice.
For now this is it. But I will get back to you with my verdict on it once I've had enough time to test it out.
#1empty1newbie (again) because I had many empties last month
#APIEU Madecassoside Gel --> Cream Review . .
.As someone with damaged skin barrier, product with "barrier repair, centella, madecassoside" thing is a big yes. So does these A'pieu moisturizer. I got an acne breakout last Dec and I used my Madecassoside Gel like crazy. Now as the weather is getting dry, it's time to go back to something heavier , Madecassoside Cream.
Tbh,This cream is not the best cream for sensitive skin because it contains too much essential oils and high percentage of active ingredient (0.1% madecassoside and 40% Cica Leaf water) so you may need to do a patch test first .
I already used the cream before and I love it so much so I bought the bigger version. It is heavier than the gel one and more suitable for dry skin. I use this cream generously at night only. It just calms down my acne and rebuild my skin structure .My skin is getting so much better now. It doesn't feel itchy anymore. It also healed a wound around my cheeks and my nose. Really love this!. .
How about you? do you have special product for your acne? .
nb :from 27 Jan 19 I also use Benton Snail Bee Serum and Goodal Green Tangerine line. .

✨ PRODUCT REVIEW ✨
@freshbeauty SOY FACE CLEANSER #freshbeauty#CleanserSeries .
. ▫️ brand claim: for all skin types, removes makeup and cleanses without drying out the skin .
. ▫️ ingredients: amino acid-rich soy proteins, rosewater, cucumber extract - not a foaming cleanser! ✅ .
. ▫️pH level: 5.3 perfect! ✅ .
▫️ texture/consistency: lightweight gel .
▫️ scent: strong cucumber scent - bothered me at first, I would gag 🤢 (bcuz I'm weird) - but now doesn't bother me .
▫️ first experience: a few years ago, I received a sample size (the Sephora birthday gift if I remember correctly) maybe I got a bad batch or something bcuz I really didn't like this cleanser - the product felt ....weird, that's the only way I can describe it. I was so confused at the time bcuz SO MANY people raved about this product. I felt that it didn’t cleanse my skin well and the cucumber scent was too strong .
. 🔸 overtime: recently, on a whim I decided to buy a Fresh value set that included a mini size of this cleanser (immediately I then purchased the full size) - I'm happy to say I've completely changed my opinion about this cleanser - Holy Grail ❕ it didn't remove makeup well but this is great as a 2nd cleanse or AM cleanse, definitely gentle! (I don’t believe cleansers are to remove makeup - I’ll use an oil based makeup remover - cleansers are meant to “clean the skin”) This cleanser doesn't dry out my skin! It’s soothing hydrating and calming. [I’m a woman so I’m allowed to change my opinion] .
▫️ overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍 LOVE this cleanser - gentle and hydrating - HOLY GRAIL, will REPURCHASE - $38/5 oz.

Today’s post is about toners, its benefits and some myths around them. I’ve been testing @drjart Ceramidin Liquid from a travel kit I got and, unlike the cream, I didn’t like it. In fact, it aggravated my oiliness and made me break out to the point I had to stop using it. And the extremely sticky feeling when drying wasn’t the nicest. Turns out alcohol is the third ingredient on the list, such an old school concept for a toner that it makes me burst in anger in ways I could become Hulk right now. Next.
Thank God the package I was expecting from @yesstyle since the Mesozoic Era finally arrived. It took its time, it travelled around the world and beyond, but it’s finally here. And it came with the toner that not so long ago made me change my opinion about them: the wonderful @klairs.global Supple Toner.
Why using a (good) toner? Forget those stories about toners removing the last bits of residue your cleanser couldn’t manage or helping to close pores. If you’re using them for those reasons, one, change your cleanser right now and second, your pores are not a door; they can’t open and close. Toners balance your pH level, help the rest of your products to penetrate easier and, most importantly, are a high source of hydration. How many times I said I didn’t need a toner until I found a great one! It made a huge difference in my routine and the amount of oil I produce. It’s like Cheetos. I can’t live without them.
This toner its vegan, cruelty free and has all the ingredients I love. Soothing heroes like Panthenol, extracts from Centella Asiatica and Aloe, and copper peptides. Good antioxidants like Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E) and Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (a sodium salt of vitamin C). Full of humectants to bring hydration, amino acids to reduce irritation and, my favourite one, Licorice Root extract: a wonderful brightening ingredient that has great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities too.
I got the scented version because I don’t have sensitive skin and I really like the herbal, almost medicinal smell. But for those of you with sensitive skin, there’s an unscented version without the essential oils that can cause irritation.

My C-Firma is empty and has lasted me 4.5 months. I won’t repurchase the C-Firma anytime soon because I have some Vit C serums in my stash that I will need to use up. Don’t want to waste product because boy, does this C-Firma oxidize quickly. Looking forward to the @medik8sverige and I will report back what I think of this one.
#1empty1newbie@cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. It's becoming a favorite because I really like that it doesn't foam a lot.
From the past poll I noticed lots of you use it as PM cleanser as well so I've been doing that for the past week (while I go search for other cleanser to try). Thinking of getting the milk gel one but still not very sure 🤔 what cleanser do you know that doesn't foam a lot and has subtle to no fragrance?
EMPTY: Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 1970
💰 $28, 1.7oz
I first started using this last year April and it was love at first use. If you want to check out my review, just scroll down a few posts back around July 2018. My overall texture really improved while using this exfoliator. It also helps keeping acne at bay and most especially it eradicated my closed comedones on my jawline/upper neck. This is my 3rd empty travel-sized bottle. Since my jawline/upper neck is already free of CCs, I will not repurchase it for now (probably in the future). I will surely miss the numbing sensation and the smell! 😅 Bought mine at @vickimoravskincare.
NEW: Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid
💰 $29.50, 4oz
(Bought it on sale last month, $33 for both BHA Liquid and BHA Body Treatment Lotion)
My first Paula’s Choice product. This is their most popular and a lot are raving about it. I already started using this last Tuesday and so far I’m impressed! I think I jinxed myself last week. There are still quite a few pimples on my chin that won’t budge so I cracked open this bad boy. It calmed down the small whiteheads I had and reduced the size of my pimples. Great first impression! 👍🏻
Humidity was still high, so I had to pare down my routine to involve only hydrating products. No actives, ampoules or heavy cream.
🔹 @garnierindonesia Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water
🔹 @sensatia_botanicals Soapless Cleanser
🔹@reseahk pH 5.5 Balancing Essence*
🔹@iunik_official Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum
🔹@reseajp Marine Nano Cream*
🔹@hadalabomalaysia Perfect Gel
🔹@nuxefrance Rêve de Miel
This is an example why I love having a multi–step routine and multiple products in the same category. Both enables me to create different routines according to my skin's needs. For me, having dry skin means my skin can vary from being normal to very dry depending on humidity levels, and I need to be prepared.
Do you switch out your routine and products often? Why do you prefer so?

#1empty1newbie@cosrx Advanved Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. I've been through countless bottles. It does a fantastic job of calming, soothing and healing fussy skin. Love it. I use it as a serum/lotion before moisturizer. Anyone else love this?

These are the 19 products I want to use up in 2019. Some of them are already panned and not much product is left in them and some are unused and unloved.
I want to use up a lot of my creams and liquids since their lifetime is not long enough to keep them sitting in my vanity.
Skincare is not included since I‘m pretty good with #1empty1newbie in that department.
I will go more into detail with the products in my next posts so stay tuned.
What are your makeup/skincare goals for 2019?

I’m emptying a @glossier super pure (honestly, what’s new?), and instead of opening a backup, I decided to use the @peachandlily glass skin serum full time. I know, shocker. I love my Glossier serum and only Ryan Gosling would make me think of giving it up. But ultimately, not even he can convince me. Unless he’s paying for my derm appointments and skincare products, in which case I would give it up. Then and only then.
The Peach & Lily glass skin serum is a bit thicker than the Glossier super pure but it still absorbs well. I wish the packaging were clear so I can see how much serum I’m going through but it’s nice to look at. Excited to report more!

#skinemmies2018 | days 20 & 21 | splurge & product of the year
I can’t name one product and the same goes for splurge. There is no single product that can do it all - so my splurge is investing in good skincare routines 🤓
A show-me-your-skincare-storage type of challenge (back in 2015) made me realize that my skincare wardrobe required 2 cabinets + 1 drawer of storage. I barely could use it all and, despite all money invested, my skin was not in happy place and choosing my routine took longer than it should 😞That's when I decided to streamline my skincare and my rule of thumb was: "It has to fit in 1 CABINET" (not a giant one, that’s cheating 🙈). Sounded so simple but I struggled! There are so many interesting products that I would like to buy & test. This cabinet still has too much stuff but believe it used to be worst (check #skinminimalist_shelfie ): I used to have more than 12 cleansers, now I only have 4.
I have no backups elsewhere but I do own a couple items of skincare not featured in this photo:
• VitC serum (kept in the fridge)
• Bioderma Micellar water (next to where I store cotton pads & facial cloths)
• bedside-table essentials: hand cream & lip balm.
• @trinnylondon makeup stack (my bag)
• a couple of unopened PR products
HOW TO REDUCE OR KEEP YOUR SKINCARE WARDROBE SIZE?
📌buy only after finishing an equivalent product from your cabinet - aka the #1empty1newbie (a strategy that some of you already know & support - thanks!)
📌pick faves: occasionally, I manage to finish 2 or 3 oldies but I only buy 1 newbie, which leads to:
• more cabinet space
• more use of my faves
• faster routine (less to choose from)
• money saved
• more skin benefits from consistent use
• is liberating: I own my skincare and not the other way around
📍Now I challenge you: show your skincare cabinet - please tag me so that I won’t miss it 😉
A big thanks to @antiagingamber and @morethanjustskin for hosting this amazing challenge that brings the #skincarecommunity together ❤️
#1empty1newbie | vitC serum
L-ascorbic acid (L-AA) is the most powerful form of VitC used in skincare to fight free radicals, boost collagen production, fade dark spots & boost SPF power. Not everyone can tolerate L-AA but my skin loves it. The downside: is unstable in water-based formula and oxidizes when exposed to light & air, becoming darker in color & ineffective. This is why I only use a vitC serum at a time and I do not buy backups.
Paula’s Choice C15 booster: watery formula w/ the same % of LAA, vitE & ferulic acid as the skinceuticals (15%, 1% and 0.5%, respectively) w/ pH of ~3.1. It also contains hydrating/replenishing ingredients, penetration enhancers & pH balancer. Instead of the usual 30mL, it comes in a 20 mL bottle to be used faster & avoid oxidation; the bottle has a small rubber ring to help keeping air out. This is the closest formula to my fave Skinceuticals CE Ferulic but is more fairly priced (53€/20mL – not cheap but wait for a 20% off deal) 🙌🏻
Clinique Fresh Pressed™ Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10%: bought it after finishing my PC C15 and right before my 3-week holidays. Each 7-day vial contains a dual-chambered that keeps the VitC powder and water-based phase separate. Once you press the inner bulb twice, both phases meet and you shake it for 15 secs to get your fresh vitC serum, which is recommended to use within 7 days. Mine lasted 15 days (without visible oxidation or funky smell) and I used 5 drops mixed w/ my hydration serum. Pricey option but is travel-friendly, fragrance-free and you get freshly pressed 10% L-AA 🙌🏻! It comes w/ 7 sachets of the “Renewing Powder Cleanser with Pure VitC” (a water-activated powder cleanser w/ L-AA, kaolin, salicylic acid, etc). Very satisfying to use but left my skin slightly tight when I used for several days in row. I think it works better if used every other day. Overall, the cleanser is ok but the serum is 🙌🏻!
Given the price per use, I decided to restock the PC C15 booster; but before big travels, I’ll grab the clinique again :)
📍very curious about @maeloveskincare vitC serum and can’t wait for @kindofstephen to launch his VitC serum 🤓

🌚 EMPTY 1: @hadalaboofficial Light Hydrating Lotion
• Review •
Light consistency but still very hydrating. It absorbs fast into the skin. Thinking of repurchasing this.
🌝 NEWBIE 2: @hadalaboofficial Blemish & Oil Control Hydrating Lotion
• First Impression •
The toner is murky but light in consistency. It doesn’t absorbs into the skin as fast and it leaves a lil oily feel on the skin. It also contains alcohol. I am not sure if I like it tho. .
🌚 EMPTY 2: @thefaceshop.official All Clear! Cleansing Oil Whip
. • Review •
It is a oil based makeup remover + cleanser. I use it as my 1st cleanse in the double cleanse method. It is very convenient when I want to remove light makeup (when I am not using waterproof eyeliner/mascara). I don’t have to worry about the emulsion. Love this product!
🌝 NEWBIE 2: @heimish_korea All Clean Balm
• First Impression •
I haven’t use balm makeup remover since 2 years ago (I used to use the Banila Co Clean It Zero). This one doesn’t leave the oily residue like the Banila Co.’s. It melts down the waterproof eye makeup perfectly, without leaving any residue. But I don’t think it is taking off my foundation well. Will give it another try later.
🌚 EMPTY 3: @laneigemy Water Sleeping Mask
• Review •
You guys should already know how much I love this product. Scroll to my older post for the full review.
🌝 NEWBIE 3: @laneige_kr Water Sleeping Mask (Lavender)
• First Impression •
I haven’t try it on my face yet but the texture feels more “watery” when it is spread out on the skin. It also has a mild lavender scent. Will make a review after using for at least a month.
I think my skin is purging now, probably due to the overuse of the Kale-Lalu-YaHa AHA exfoliator. I don’t know how my skin is going to react with all these new products 😅. .
As I mentioned in my story, I wanted to start a 20 days challenge with the @skii PITERA Welcome Set. Fingers crossed that it will make a miracle to my skin. .
