Behold - my foot - wrapped in leather I danced holes through more than sixteen years ago. I’m flexing my toe so it doesn’t pop out of the end and scare you all!
And today my dearest Hedvig @hedvigbrennan turns sixteen. I’ve watched her not only blossom into a beautiful dancer, but into a young woman full of dignity and strength. She constantly reminds me what is important - love for family, connection to the arts, and appreciation for beauty. And she constantly acts with more integrity than most people I know who are in their thirties and forties.
I’m not even sure how many dance shoes (Irish or Scottish) that I’ve destroyed over the years with the stories they allow me to tell through movement. Lots. But I know you may break my record, Hedvig. And I hope as you do you’ll feel joy in your spirit and love for the celebration of life. Which is what our ancestors felt as they were creating these dance forms. Have an incredible day, mo dheirfiúr, mo chara ☘️🖤 you’re a light this world needs!
