Have you heard of finger painting 指画?
Spent a meaningful evening at Cheng Hong Welfare Service Society’s (CHWSS) Art Fundraiser Opening Ceremony.
CHWSS is a charity which provides pro bono Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments and other forms of assistance to the needy, as well as befriending services to the elderly. I am very glad that they managed to raise over $217,000 through this fundraiser, which will go towards supporting these causes.
I also had the pleasure of watching fascinating finger painting by Singapore’s very own Mr Wu Ee Lung (吴怡龙), and even had the chance to try it out under his guidance.
Let us all continue to work together, to promote the spirit of SG Cares and build a caring home for all.
First time driving an electric vehicle - easy to drive despite weighing almost three tonnes.
I was visiting HDT, the first taxi operator here with a fully electric fleet. HDT stands for “Hold Dreams Together”. Indeed, they share Singapore’s dream of having greener transportation options, and are helping to make that happen with its fleet of electric-powered taxis.
HDT also help their close team of cabbies with their dreams, offering them a different employment model with a basic salary, leave days, and CPF contributions. It’s an attractive option for some, and I understand many drivers appreciate this.
Met the Mayor of Rikuzentakata City, Mr Futoshi Toba, and his colleagues at MCCY on 10 Jul, during their visit here for World Cities Summit 2018.
We signed an MOU for Rikuzentakata to be a host city for Team Singapore under the Tokyo 2020 Host Town Initiative.
We are thankful for Rikuzentakata’s generous gesture in hosting our athletes after Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. Am glad to note that the city is recovering well from the 2011 Tohoku disaster, which devastated a large part of the city and claimed many lives. The community’s resilience and tenacity in overcoming the challenge during the post-tsunami phase is an exemplary learning point for us. I am confident our athletes would find their stay at Rikuzentakata a fulfilling one.

Do you recognise what character I wrote?
At the 7th National School Children Calligraphy Competition, the young ones were so much better than me!
I also met Yvien Ramis, a non-Chinese student from Greendale Primary School whose strong interest in calligraphy was sparked by the unique shape of Chinese characters.
Thanks to the Singapore Futsing Association and @poichingschool, for organising the competition in conjunction with the upcoming National Day celebrations.
In the spirit of Singapore’s multi-racial and multicultural society, I hope more Singaporeans will continue to pass down their unique cultural traditions to the younger generation.

Our new grassroots #volunteers attended their Community Immersion Programme over the weekend.
Besides briefings by various agencies so that they can serve the community better, they also went around the different locations where we have our unique #TampinesNorth initiatives, including #MyKindofFridge, IPPT Kakis, Movies under the North Stars and KopiTalk.
More than 200 volunteers and activists came together this morning to deliver rice to all rental households in #tampinesnorth.
I am posting the group photos before and after the rice distribution. More photos to come later.
If you or your friends are in the photos, do tag.
