Happy to meet residents of Blk 450G and Blk 457 on Wednesday evening.
I am happy that residents care for their estate and continue to share their concerns on issues and feedback on how to improve their living environment. The feedback will help my team and me better understand their needs and improve things in the estate.
We also reminded residents to cast their votes for the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme.
Thank you for your enthusiastic response. Let’s work together to make #TampinesNorth a better home! #bettertogether
Car-sharing supports our #WalkCycleRide vision by providing commuters with another convenient option for point-to-point transport. Since its launch last December, the #BlueSG electric car-sharing programme now has a network of 531 charging points and 300 BlueCars across Singapore, and continues to grow.
Residents of Tampines will be pleased to know that BlueSG plans to open a charging station at @ourtampineshub to add to the range of transport options available.
From the first quarter of 2019, BlueSG will also open up a portion of its charging points for public use. This will help lay the foundation for a national electric vehicle charging network and pave the way for a more sustainable transport system.

The government is putting aside $9 million from the Public Transport Fund to give lower-income households $30 worth of transport vouchers. These vouchers will help offset the impact of transport fare hike for these families. Households may use the vouchers to buy or top up fare cards, or to buy monthly concession passes.
If your household meets the criteria, you may apply to receive the transport vouchers at any community club near you.
Neighbourhood Renewal Programme Batch 9’s Consensus Gathering session for residents of Tampines Blks 491–496 cluster last Sunday was a lively affair. There was good engagement with residents on the exciting NRP plans for their estate.
There were some residents who were concerned with a new substation to be built next to their block. I explained that the architect had chosen that location to minimise inconvenience to residents (including no blockage of window views) and to accommodate constraints (eg access to service road). It is essential to increase the electrical power capacity of the estate so that residents can install electrical appliances such as air-con without worry of power trips. I do hope for their understanding. If they are able to propose a better location, the architect will definitely consider.
I was happy to see that many residents turned up to vote that morning, and the votes are now being tallied by Town Council. 75% votes are required for the improvement works to proceed. If you or your neighbours have yet to vote – do encourage them to do so. You will need to fill up the voting form and drop it into the NRP boxes located within your estate. We hope to have your support so as to make these exciting upgrading plans for your neighbourhood a reality!
Joined Mayor Low Yen Ling in an ‘intergenerational’ bus ride around Choa Chu Kang on Bus Service 301 last Friday, together with seniors and students from South West district.
A great opportunity for the two groups of commuters to get to know each other better! Better mutual understanding contributes to a more gracious, caring and inclusive public transport culture, which leads to a more pleasant journey experience.
Looking forward to more of such ground-up initiatives. Let’s make Walk Cycle Ride the preferred way to travel.

I don’t have a religion but I respect all religions.
I was attending a Chinese temple (玄天上帝法师公庙) dinner at Tampines last Saturday. The devotees used to live in Kampung Changi Mata Ikan.

Minister Grace Fu was welcoming the first full marathoner at the finishing line when I completed my half marathon (it means that they are twice as fast as me! 😬). But I still had the honour of the Minister presenting the finisher medal to me! 💪
Frankly, the last 2-3km was the toughest for me, as shown in the timings. But I am glad I tried and made it. 🙂

I received this email from a resident yesterday.
Reading between the lines, I know these are the bigger issues I should focus on:
Whether there is a cockroach infestation problem there?
How can the town council improve its hotline?
Thanks to the resident for taking the trouble to get through the hotline and monitoring the whereabouts of the cockroach, as well as a photo of it.

We had a #precinctparty for residents of Blks 485B, 486C, 487C and 488A on Sunday. We talked about some of the works like NRP for the estate, as well as the work agencies have done in response to residents’ feedback during our house visits. Very soon, the precinct will also go through Repair and Redecoration (R&R). Residents will get to vote for and choose the colour scheme for their blocks. A new coat of paint (let’s try an interesting colour scheme) and repair works will give the estate a fresher look and feel.
