Thankful to have been part of a deeply cathartic tribute to #scotthutchison@frabbits last night. Thank you to @jennylsq for giving voice to the emotions and loss we all feel — and to @julienrbaker@gibbstack@steadycraig@kevinpdevine for courageously singing your hearts out and most of all the audience who gave the most moving performance of the night — singing the Modern Leper at the top of your lungs when we had run out of songs to play.

Thank you @simonswimmer for the memory. I can’t remember if Scott and I were having a serious conversation or pretending to have one — in the garden outside my garage studio in Brooklyn. I’ve been playing @frabbits songs every day (pretty sure Scott would have found Robin’s harmonica solo here on Death Dream highly amusing...)....we are preparing to pay tribute to Scott in a few days with friends in New York. I wish it wasn’t necessary and Scott was still here — but the songs stand up and burn brightly ....way into the night and beyond the grave. Miss you. #scotthutchison
I live in a congressional district (NY-19) where an incredibly inspiring candidate Antonio Delgado @delgadoforcongress is poised to unseat a Trumpist incumbent John Faso. Antonio will be a congressman with a highly informed, intelligent, inclusive and empathetic point of view on the issues we face today — but the election will come down to the wire and he needs every last vote. If anyone has any doubt that Trump and his GOP cohorts are anything other then proto-fascists with a racist, misogynist, hateful, anti-environment and selfish agenda — you are simply willfully ignorant and are essentially aiding and abetting a morally corrupt strong man willing to do anything to consolidate power. Fear mongering and blaming systemic problems on marginalized people (whether refugees or desperate migrant workers or minorities or any at risk or less fortunate members of society) is an age-old, shameful political tactic that leads to violence (as we have seen with a white supremacist shooting elderly Jews in Pittsburg, a Trumpist pipe bomber targeting Democratic leaders and the media, etc etc etc). We have a chance with this election to turn back the tide and put a check on this odious chapter in American history which has already done so much damage to our society. If you live in NY-19 please support Antonio Delgado and all the progressive Democratic candidates on the ballot — if you live elsewhere in the country — please do whatever you can locally to restore some sense of inclusiveness, tolerance and humanity in our democracy. And VOTE VOTE VOTE thank you again @hudsonvalleyvotes@nataliemerchant@elizabethpenta@carmelholt for including me in this inspiring rally
